We're not really sure what happened with our orders, but we arrived on time at 1800, we had a show booked at 1930; we were given the Theatre Menu and planned on each having 2 courses. I ordered a starter - calamari- and main- tagliatelle-, and my girls ordered a main - Margarita - planning to order dessert. My husband who had an upset tummy, just ordered a sea salt garlic bread. I asked for their main and our starters to arrive together. We ordered at 1814. Drinks arrived relatively promptly. By 1840 none of our food had arrived. The pizzas finally arrived, and I expected my calamari and the garlic bread to arrive shortly after. They didn't. Then the garlic bread arrived, but it was the wrong one, with cheese, which my husband didn't want, he just wanted something relatively plain. We had to send it back. My calamari still didn't arrive. I asked for it and it arrived about 1900. I then had to ask for my main almost immediately, so I could eat it and get to the theatre in time. We boxed up what we didn't eat and took it away, but it made stressful what was supposed to be a 17th birthday treat, dinner then the Ballet. We aren't arsey customers, and so we didn't kick up a fuss, and we were given complimentary drinks which we didn't ask for (and actually, wouldn't have wanted if asked) for our patience. (We would have chosen something else.) And then service tried to clear the label of drinks when we still had liquid in our glasses. The staff were pleasant and apologetic, but this seemed to be a failure of management, as opposed to poor service behaviour. I would have expected at least 50% off for the inconvenience as we ran out of time and couldn't order dessert. But there was no management apology and no offer of recompense. The food that did arrive was tasty, but overall, it was very disappointing experience.

We went for pre theatre lunch here, I think most of the other diners were doing the same. It was full so there was a great atmosphere. Warm and friendly welcome and all of the staff were so friendly it was lovely. We chose the rigatoni from the pre theatre set menu and it was amazing. The whole experience, food, atmosphere, service was brilliant. Perfect! Will definitely be going back and would recommend

The food absolutely delicious! Good value 3 course set pre theatre meal. Staff were attentive and the food arrived promptly. Lovely atmosphere, and very convenient for the Hippodrome as it is right opposite. Would recommend.

Excellent restaurant literally 2 minutes from the Hippodrome. Food was great, service excellent, reasonably priced, will definitely go again.

Great food, close to the hippodrome within walking distance of 3 mins and near to parking too. The Strogonoff is highly recommended along with Garlic bread, side order of broccoli! Seabass was fantastic too. Well worth a visit! Collected our desserts after the show as we were delayed getting there due to road accident. All the staff were friendly and professional! Great night out with both the meal and the show! Not the first time we have been and it won’t be our last either!

This was a great choice after being at the Theatre. And is only a short walk from New St station. The type of menu is fine for a group of people with a variety of different tastes. Gluten Free choices could be better featured throughout the menu, but particularly the desserts.

Prawn cocktail: good portion but prawns still very cold and not enough sauce. Only accompanied by pieces of lettuce. Pasta bolognaise was lovely. Rice with the stroganoffs was cold. Tiramisu didn’t taste authentic. Service very good. Very pricey given the quality of food.

Lovely restaurant and food was delicious. They were very accommodating with us being late due to traffic coming into Birmingham and also served us very quickly once we got there to allow us to get to a show on time. Will definitely return when we have more time to try out the delicious looking desserts.
