The food in this restaurant had a very intense taste profile but not in a good way. They need to bring the taste a few notches down. The salads were too intense. My tagliettele was good but it was served with too much bolognese and not enough pasta. The desert was tasteless and the elements were poorly composed. The focaccia bread was very oily and was not a proper focaccia but more of a cake type of bread. The service was top ten and that was the best part.

Our service was excellent. When we asked about the wine by the glass, he had the sommelier come to discuss the choices which was super helpful. Our dinners were excellent, both the appetizers and the mains. Their brodetto is one of the best dishes we’ve experienced in DC.

Food was a little cold and service doesn't try to be cheerful, since automatically they charge you 20%.

Lovely ambience and we loved the server, Antonio. The gem salad was delicious and the gnocchi was good except that it was drowning in the pesto sauce. The whole wheat focaccia was sliced way too thickly and cakey in texture. Very small wine pour for the money.

The food was fantastic. You could tell everything was made fresh and extremely authentic. The flavors were out of this world. The staff was extremely familiar with the menu, and had spot on recommendations. This is the best Italian food in the District.

We had a lovely meal at Modena. The service was gracious and efficient.. I had asked in advance for tortellinii al brodo, which is not on the menu these days, and the chef agreed to make it. I had it as my main course, and it was wonderful. My first course was fried artichokes. They were tasty but heavy because covered with a fried breading. Actually, the artichokes weren't crisp, it was the breading that was crisp. I prefer the fried artichokes the way I've had them in Rome, that is, without breading and the artichokes themselves fried.
