Montecatini is a stable for Walnut Creek as it opened October 17, 1989, the day of the Loma Prieta earthquake in California. Since then, Montecatini Ristorante has become a place for "regulars" to enjoy a true Italian dining experience. We are a loud and bustling environment where many have come to say we're like family. All our dishes are meticulously prepared with the finest and freshest ingredients. Our pastas and entrees are served piping hot from our kitchen to your table.

Montecatini has been awarded "Best of East Bay" for Best Italian Restaurant in the East Bay Area by Diablo Magazine for several years. As of January 2022 our chef, Ermes Paulin, has passed ownership down to two of Montecatini's long-time employees, Terrance and Taylor George. They plan to keep Montecatini thriving on its "old school" vibe while enhancing the cocktail and wine program. So come in and experience Montecatini for yourself and see what a true hidden gem we are!

Long stretches of no attention followed by the entree taking forever ( a simple pasta dish with a couple pieces of chicken in it). That was disappointing.

Great experience, and delicious food! The kitchen is next level. We’ve been going there for years and love how welcoming Steve, the host, is when entering. Steve completes the whole wonderful food experience, coming and going. ♥️

We were there to celebrate an 80th birthday. It was not the best choice, due to a party of about 12 across from us was extremely loud. It's a small space so I suppose it's somewhat to be expected. The food was excellent, although we waited 45-60 mins to get served due to the large party who had arrived prior.

I have nothing but a fine dining experience. I have traveled around looking for good food, good wine, and great service. One travels to Walnut Creek looking for excellent and perfect restaurants to enjoy delicious food and friendships in the restaurant industry. But all l can about say Montecatini it is often imitated but never duplicated. Kudos to the staff, kitchen, and owner Terrance

We arrived to celebrate a birthday and our wedding anniversary and were warmly greeted by Stephen. It was a special evening complete with Montecatini's signature dished and excellent service. Shout out to our server Rachel who pampered us throughout our 2.5.hour dining experience!
