Had family visiting from the US who wanted to experience Darling Harbour and Chinese food so thought to try Mumian and booked a table for six. When we walked in and stated our reservation the maitre'd looked thoroughly confused. I showed him my booking confirmation, still confused. He looked it up on his computer and pointed to my name and asked me 'Is this it?' then asked us to please wait while he organised a table. I couldn't work out if they had forgot our booking or given it to someone else. We sat for just under 30 minutes without even being offered a drinks menu. I approached the maitre'd to explain that we had not been approached once in 30 minutes and he raised his voice to me in reproach, flicking his hands at the table telling me he would be there to clear it soon. He clearly had not listened to my words. I am still in disbelief. I asked him 'Are you yelling at me?' A lovely young woman then came to our table and took our drinks order but explained as we were trying to order cocktails that their bartender had not come to work so unlisted cocktails were out of the question. The drinks then came .... sporadically. One arrived then another 10 minutes before the remaining order arrived. I was actually surprised at the swiftness that the food arrived. It was very clear that the restaurant was under staffed. If it were not for the delightful lady that tended our table with such calm and friendliness I would have given this restaurant a minus review. The maitre'd needs retraining in customer service, his manner toward me was utterly contemptible. I was embarrassed in front of our international guests that this was their first restaurant experience in our wonderful city. What a shame. I shall not be returning nor recommending this venue. I was eager to try one of the groups other restaurants but shall move on to other establishments after this experience.

It’s Christmas Day, they are short staffed & getting hammered but it was such a lovely afternoon. The staff were flustered yet apologetic but we didn’t mind, they were doing their very best. Food was great, my mocktail Sunnyside was delicious. The beers were cold, dishes were really interesting. We weren’t rushed at all in fact the restaurant called me the week before to move my booking so that we could enjoy more time there. Qudos to the staff holding it all together on a very busy day

Very chaotic, unorganised, not the best quality food, over priced christmas lunch with a hefty $30 surcharge added to your bill.

We arrived early for Xmas brunch having booked a seat outside. When we arrived they were going to sit us inside but I reminded them we wanted outside they said it was booked by someone else. It was a bit frosty when I showed them I booked a table outside which wasn’t a great start. They appeared understaffed and service wasn’t great. Food was okay but nothing out of the ordinary to justify the $$$$$. There was a mandatory 15% surcharge for Xmas which was in our case $44 which I felt wasn’t justified for poor service. I won’t be back.

The food was delicious but let down by poor service. It felt like the restaurant was understaffed when we arrived as we were up and down in our seats getting our own serviettes, repeatedly asking for water, cutlery, etc. The wine was set down on the table as opposed to being poured for the group and was left there to go warm as opposed to being placed in an ice bucket. Staff were friendly enough but not very attentive despite the restaurant not being close to full and it let the meal down.

We enjoyed the food, drink, service and atmosphere there. The staff are all welcoming us warmly. We loved deep fried white fish, fried rice, dim sum.

We are so disappointed. We had a booking at this restaurant at 2045 this evening. We are in Sydney for 3 nights only and we chose this restaurant as the final dining destination of our stay. We took an Uber across the city to get to it. Upon arrival we were informed the chef had gone home. No apology. Nothing. The girl said she had attempted to call but since I have an international number it didn’t go through. How ridiculous. Anyway we left and were unable to find anywhere else to eat. We got absolutely drenched in the rain. I am absolutely furious. You most definitely should not treat customers like this and I would not recommend this restaurant at all
