                                                    This is our second visit to Nick’s on 2nd, and like the first, this one was wonderful! The whole ambience sets up a chill, intimate vibe, and the wait staff make you feel welcome and special. Then they have great cocktails and a thoughtful wine list, and the food is just sublime. We were celebrating the 22nd anniversary of our first date and we got a card signed by the servers along with a perfect piece of chocolate cake— so cool!! We’ll be back, again and again!

                                                    The food at Nick’s on 2nd is always outstanding—consistently flavorful and well-prepared, and it’s one of the main reasons we keep coming back. However, this visit fell short due to the service, specifically with our wine. Our server seemed inexperienced when it came to handling wine. She accidentally spilled wine across the table while pouring, and instead of using the proper technique to recover, she attempted to wipe it up with a napkin but didn’t tip the bottle correctly. This caused even more wine to spill. It was messy and distracting, and the lack of finesse made it clear she needed more training in wine service. While we deeply appreciate the quality of the food and the overall ambiance of Nick’s, an experience like this detracts from the otherwise polished reputation of the restaurant. Proper wine service is an important part of the dining experience, and some attention to staff training would ensure this doesn’t happen to others.

                                                    We were seated outside and it was very cold, I don’t think they even had the heaters on. Server forgot my husbands martini and then the bartender rushed it out and the glass was half full with ice and covered in the martini (all sticky). When we asked the server why the martini (which is $19 BTW) came out full of ice and poorly presented she said she would ask the bartender - the bartender said “idk sorry I just blacked out”. The server apologized but really unacceptable for the price they charge, I expect a better level of service and care from this restaurant.

                                                    Ive been a Nick’s enthusiast for over 7 years & I’ve never had a less than superior meal. The folks who greet us upon arrival are (without failure) friendly & welcoming. Servers are helpful explaining unfamiliar dishes, specials, ingredients. My last 2 visits I took advantage of the Bistro lunch: perfectly sized & cooked filet mignon beginning with high quality beef. The Bistro salad is my fave, the Butter Cake is Sinful it’s so tasty! I have ALWAYS been a satisfied diner. Never ever disappointed.
