                                                                                                  It was great to have the North Beach restaurant back in business. The staff appeared to be a bit overwhelmed at the start, but service picked up as the evening went on. The food and wine pairing was fairly good. We all enjoyed tasting the del Gigilio wines & Everyone at our table enjoyed the rigatoni w/pork cheek and the oxtail meatball

                                                                                                  Always enjoyed North Beach Restaurant however this particular evening did not live up to food exceptions although my colleague and I appreciated the fine wine and atmosphere. Will try again sometime.

So sad that we discovered it right as it is closing its doors after 53 years in North Beach. Wishing the best to the amazing staff!!                                                                                                   This was our farewell visit to North Beach as it was closing on New Year’s Eve after 78 magnificent years serving great meals. I’ve been coming here since the 1990’s and it became my favorite restaurant. This was “old school” dining at its finest. A Maitre de in a suit at the door. Linen tablecloth’s and napkins. Magnificent Italian Tuscan menu. Impeccable service (one small miscue with the wine order this night). San Francisco loses a gem in its crown with the closing of North Beach. It was like saying goodbye to an old friend.

                                                                                                  Sadly, the food was pre prepared hours in advance, nothing from the menu is freshly prepared. My husband was brought the wrong entree and the “famous tiramisu” was dry and pretty basic. I don’t recommend this restaurant if you do appreciate food.
