Menu is all in Spanish with no translations so if you don’t speak fluently you won’t understand what to order. Service was kind but very slow. Our waiter rarely came to the table and we had to get our own water refilled and go to the bar to pay our check because we didn’t see him for at least 30 mins when we wanted our check. Food was good but pricey. Atmosphere was great.

The staff were excellent! Friendly and accommodating. Beautiful location, lovely cocktails and wonderful meal. The show afterwards was fun as well!

Clearly understaffed/over booked. Staff were friendly but overwhelmed. It was a chilly evening but it was open to the elements, so people were eating with coats on. Not a great experience in December.

Our experience could have been a negative but it was one of the best experiences ever. We accidentally booked the tamale kit meal thinking it was a set menu. And it was a giant party tray of tamales and no reservation. My wife and I decided to gift the kitchen with the tamales since we couldn’t eat all of them (it was a ton of food). Instead we rebooked our reservation for a few minutes later and they comped our meals and drinks! (We didn’t ask, it was a huge surprise for us). We had the crudo, the halibut and short ribs. My wife have eaten at Michelin star rated places in Paris and what ocho offered us was just as good if not better. That was some of the best food, service and experience we’ve ever have had. If you want a great experience, go to Ocho! Just don’t… uh… be dingdongs like us and order the tamale kit that could have fed an army :D

If visiting the Tobin Center, this is the place to dine. Right on the River Walk and less than a block to the center. Great food and have a special menu for show nights.

We finally experienced Ocho and enjoyed it! It's small...make a reservation if you don't want to risk being turned away. Food is more of a Puerto Rican fusion, and even if on the pricier side, it is excellent. We opted to share the appetizer "platter"....basically a Cuban with a side of tostones, and it was wonderful. Big enough for a small meal for two. We then shared the chicken dish...name escapes me...and it was spot on, as well. Great flavors, nice presentation, really satisfying. The bar seems to offer a wide array of cocktails, wine, and beer. My husband had a mojito -- on the small side but nicely made. My glass of Malbec was great. No room for dessert but I'm sure it was good. Ocho would be a fabulous spot for lunch (for the view), or later in the year when evening light remains. The view out the large glass panels looks to be fantastic, although the River Walk Christmas lighting does not carry down that far, unfortunately. Overall , we would go here again for a meal or as a lovely spot for a drink and appetizer. It's right by the Tobin, as well...excellent pre-show location for dinner and the kind waiter did as if we were attending the show in order to be mindful of timing. How nice!

Made reservations as we were attending an event at the Tobin Center. We were a party of 5 and were seated outside. I was not advised that we would be seated outside - we were not physically prepared to sit in a cool damp air. Meanwhile, a table for five inside sat vacant the entire 90 minutes we were there. We won’t be back.
