Derived from the famous Chatham Artillery Punch which has been a part of the Southern Culture for over two centuries. The Chatham Artillery is one of the oldest military organizations on record in Georgia. The earliest mention of their deceitful brew was in 1819 when President James Monroe came to Savannah to attend the gala launching of the S.S. Savannah. It was said that the ladies of the camp would make this in times of celebrations, and the officers of the artillery would sneak in & add libations to spice it up. Foods good, everything else is least to be desired. If you like $34.00 martinis while eating in an upscale college cafeteria, with screaming children, choppy layout, crowded bar and bright lighting then I would highly recommend the Octagon. Love Palmetto Bluff, but for the price eating at octagon is not worth the dinner reservation. Only for lunch. I Would recommend Riverhorse, and if the Montage cant get you into Canoe Club, then eat at riverhorse or bluffton for fine dining. The Montage gets you because if your staying on site and all there restaurants are booked….which happens, your stuck. They simply can charge whatever they want. Blackberry Farm does the same but atleast they can justify the food service and ambience.

It was the perfect selection for a Christmas lunch for those of us who didn’t want to cook. The food was great, service excellent and we had a wonderful time in a beautiful location.

Realizing it was Christmas Eve, expectations were not high for service. Our poor waiter was in the weeds and we sat for an hour before we were served corn bread. The table behind us came in after us and finished and left 30 min before we were even served. The quality of food was beyond awful. Everything was cold, the sides were small and cold, and the food was not what we are accustomed to getting at a montage property. The prices for the portion size were too high. 60$ for four pieces of crispy rice and the price of the steak for the portion was ridiculous. The back room needs to be made to feel like the front of the restaurant, not a forgotten room with bright lights and no atmosphere. Overall, it was one of the worst dinners we have had at the Montage. We will try again in the future on a day that is less busy, hoping this was a one off.

Service was extremely slow. Orders were inaccurate. Appetizers were delivious but we sent the main entrees back. They were over cooked, cold, tasteless, oversalted, and poorly presented.

The waiter forgot our appetizer course and brought out all the sushi on one plate without explanation of what was what. Not a great experience given the price of dinner.

Food and service were wonderful. Autumn was great as was the food. The truffle fries are a must have as is the Seafood Salad. This is my third lunch there and will be back again soon. The atmosphere and ambiance are lovely as is the entire Montage Resort as well as the Palmetto Bluff neighborhoods.
