The restaurant was dim, with every table relying on portable lights for visibility. Our kids were writing in their notebooks under one of these lights throughout the evening. However, while we were still enjoying dessert, our server, EMILY, abruptly took the light away from our kids without any warning or explanation. At first, we didn’t think much of it and simply moved another light(we have three tables and two lights) closer to our kids so they could keep on writing. Moments later, Emily returned, pressed the switch to dim the light, and curtly told us we weren’t allowed to adjust the brightness as it would disturb other guests. By this point, the restaurant was nearly empty, with only two other tables, and no one seemed bothered by our light. When we pointed out she could have said it in a more politely way instead of just took the light away from our kids without saying anything, Emily continued to argue, insisting it was the owner’s rule to keep the lights dimmed. I felt she was super rude and disrespectful, especially to the kids. I would never recommend this restaurant if you are bringing your kids along.

Overall an excellent above and beyond experience. We were greeted by the chef’s wife Stephanie and got seated right away. Our waitress Emily was friendly and efficient. Great selections of wines, cocktails and even sakes! Varieties of Japanese and Italian fusion foods, especially the melts in your mouth Haikaido Uni, we like the Uni so much that we order an additional order. The chef/owner Kevin delivered our order and greet us personally, he do that to every table, an added touch that made you feel welcome!!

We really appreciate Chef Lin accommodated us and letting our larger dog sit in the atrium on a raining day and we celebrated the most amazing doggy birthday! Highly recommended

Dog friendly restaurant, allow dogs to sit in the heated patio! Great service as well! Food quality is one of the best in Vancouver! Worth to visit again!

It's not my first time here, always enjoyed the food, drinks and service . . I love Okini that I would come here alone occasionally. My friend wanted to go to somewhere nice for Christmas, so I brought her here to celebrate and we are still talking about how delicious the food was! The whole place was stunning . . decked out in Christmas decorations!! They went all out that the Tree almost touched the ceiling. . For drinks, we ordered from their seasonal menu .. As someone who is a sucker for details, my drink came in an ornament glass!! It was super adorable and festive and it made everything merry and jolly. For food, we got beef carpaccio, xo vongole, the hayashi beef and the pudding for dessert. My friend and I loved everything. . granted she is Italian and she actually loved the pasta, that speaks volume.. . As for me, this is my first time trying tye beef carpaccio because I don't like eating raw meat . .but surprisingly the beef carpaccio was delicious! I would not have guessed it was raw because it was very flavourful.. . for the vongole ... highly recommend adding a bowl of mushroom rice towards the end so you can inhale every drop of the sauce because it's that good! Hayashi beef was super tender and delicious. . cozy vibes!! The server was very attentive, always checked on us and made sure our water is always refilled. I don't think we had to ask for more water at all. . . Highly recommend anyone who is curious (especially if you are a sucker for details)!!

First time being in this restaurant. Everything goes well and lived the chat with waitress which also gave us great advices for dining.

Absolutely phenomenal! Everything was so delicious. Truffle Udon was so good and comforting. The carpaccio was so tasty!! The duck, the sauce, the croquette - to die for!

The food was superb! The flavour combinations were innovative and the presentation was stunning. The salmon soba was out of this world delicious! Unique cocktails and a cozy environment. We will definitely be back soon!
