Founded by sibling duo Chef Philip Pretty and Lauren Pretty, Olive & Rose is a culinary destination born from their shared passion for exceptional food and genuine hospitality. We'v reimagined the dining experience as a neo-bistro, where classic French techniques with a twist meet vibrant flavors that are unmistakably Californian. Each dish tells a story of flavor, texture, and creativity—a reflection of Chef Philip Pretty’s entire culinary career.
From sourcing local, seasonal ingredients to minimizing food waste and reducing our environmental footprint, we’re proud to continue the sustainable dining legacy of our sister restaurant, Heritage, by incorporating green certified and green Michelin star practices into our operations.

Our dining area is a covered patio, please dress accordingly.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The food is amazing. Best mussels I have ever had. So tender. Pro tip - make sure to order the bread and butter to eat with these. So delicious. You will pay a premium price, if for very creative food, I personally think it’s well worth it.

Server was outstanding -- made me feel like a valued patron. The surprise dish was the Endive with Dates & Humbolt Fog salad. Very creatively plated and the flavors were exquisite. The bread was some of the best I've had - don't miss this. The Chocolate Cake with Dark Chocolate Mousse & Feulletine was decadent. Until they have valet parking, I recommend a ride share.

We were excited to come here as soon as we heard the amazing couple who run Michelin-starred Heritage in Long Beach opened a more casual but still unique bistro featuring Heritage chef de cuisine Patrick Clayton, and we weren't disappointed. The mid Century hotel premises are visually fun, feels like you're on a movie set, the cocktail menu was unique top to bottom and nothing on the menu disappointed in the slightest. A chopped endive salad with tastes of dates and bit of Humboldt Fog balanced wonderfully with mussels from SaltSpring Island in BC with its broth just inviting dipping every bit of bread from a local farmers market star. We shared the roasted chicken with an au jus sauce so good we tried (unsuccessfully) to coax the secrets from the staff, with the rib cap beef, an unusual and wonderful cut, and the pork which was perfect served with a salsa-like relish. Relaxed, with excellent attentive service (kudoes to Christopher). We'll go back soon (if we can still get reservations! took us months to get into Heritage last year!!)

We loved the restaurant. A fun vibe, great service and wonderful food. It was small so we assume it will be a tough reservation in the near future. Also, very open air so it can be a bit chilly. Can't wait to go back. We would order EVERYTHING on the menu.

My wife and I had a really nice NYE dinner here. Everything that came out exceeded expectations. We had the fish and the steak and they were both uniquely delicious. The staff was on point, and the their attention to detail was appreciated. Highly rec. this spot!

I love everything on the menu here. I had The rib cap and frites this evening. The steak is my favorite steak I’ve ever had in my life! The Amber Jack crudo is also excellent for fish lovers. It is not only delicious, it feels light and healthy too. Now that they are serving craft cocktails it makes the place more festive and fun with a delicious drink to go with the excellent food. That makes in an amazing restaurant experience to go to again and again!

A new gem in Long Beach. A cozy and intimate atmosphere. Nestled in the newly renovated City Center motel which transports you to a different era. We had the must have bread and butter and shared the beef tartare, mussels in a delectable broth, crispy sea bass and tender steak. All delicious and offered a variety of flavors. The cocktails were well balanced, and innovative. There are also crafted non-alcoholic options. The dinning room is on the smaller size so ideal for a date night or small dinner gathering. Noise level can get on the louder side if there are groups and a full dining room given the smaller space. Only noticed a few times. Overall, a great fancy date night!
