Opera Tavern is a beautiful two-storey bar and restaurant in the heart of central London’s theatre land. Located on Catherine Street we are opposite the Drury Lane Theatre, seconds from the Opera House, a stone’s throw from The Strand and a lovely walk across Waterloo Bridge from the South Bank.

A beautiful former pub, the exposed brickwork, bold artwork and flattering low lighting help our two-story restaurant create the perfect atmosphere for a pre-theatre meal or drink. The ground floor houses a long bar with the open grill at one end, and a few tables placed beside the theatre box windows, where guests can watch the world go by.

We specialise in Italian and Spanish influenced tapas and have a charcoal grill on the ground floor where we cook up all manner of stunning small plates.

Despite being extremely busy, the service was quick, staff pleasant and friendly, food first class and a lovely ambience - highly recommend - first time visit will definite not be the last !

Every dish was delicious - particularly the Jerusalem artichokes which we decided to try as something we don’t often eat. They were so good we wanted to order again. Nothing disappointed- the ambience, cosy surroundings, happy, buzzy atmosphere without being too loud, delicious wine and food. Service efficient, fast and super friendly. The staff really care that you enjoy the food We will definitely be back again soon.

Everything was better than expected, service, atmosphere and the food was very very good. Well presented, great taste and good quality. All four of us commented on how good the whole experience had been.

Amazing small plates. The food was extremely tasty and the service was even better. Alejandro provided incredible service and made solid recommendations that allowed us to try some great food and a perfect wine pairing.

It’s our ‘go to’ when in London to see a show. We always book, as they’re often turning ‘walk-ins’ away due to its apparent popularity. Food is fab, with various little plates and warm bar snacks. A fabulous find!

Place was wonderful, great service always taking care of us. Had a bad prawn and they were very helpful in providing a replacement overall would recommend.
