   The food was solid. The restaurant is very loud which makes it hard to have a conversation. They only serve beer and wine, as opposed to a full bar.

   Otoro proves that you don’t have to go to a high-end sushi restaurant in a high-end part of town to enjoy truly exceptional sushi. From the moment we walked in, the service and ambiance set the stage for a memorable dining experience. We started with the seaweed salad and avocado balls, which were a delightful and unique treat. The avocado balls, featuring spicy tuna wrapped in creamy avocado and shaped into a ball, were topped with caviar and truffle foam—simply divine. For our main selections, we shared an eel roll, volcano roll, prawn tempura, and soft-shell crab roll. Each bite was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, showcasing the care and quality Otoro brings to every dish. To top it all off, we indulged in the ube flan for dessert. This sweet and velvety purple creation was the perfect conclusion to an already stellar meal. The highlight of the evening, however, was the personal touch from the staff. Chef Jimmy’s passion for his craft shone through in his interaction with us, while Kobe, our waiter, and Isabella at the hostess stand were warm and attentive, ensuring our experience was seamless and enjoyable. Otoro Sushi is a hidden gem that we can’t wait to visit again. Highly recommend!

   There are flies by the sushi bar. One landed on my $18 nigiri, the chef chuckled when he saw the fly flying off the piece of food. Nigiri awesome, katana roll just okay. Weird spicy mix served way too cold. Bang noddles- lacked flavored. You can taste the 5 spice, it lacked salt and I added hot sauce - still couldn’t finish it. Oysters were great just far more expensive than what you would be pay in Imasa, Marumi or Eddie V’s, even the plain oysters without uni,caviar and Otoro were $5 a piece. Brûlée just okay. For $374 for two people, you could celebrate a special night somewhere else snd have a far better night. Special occasion was not mentioned or acknowledged.

    We really enjoyed our first time at Otoro. Our toddler devoured the kids chicken fried rice and would have kept eating if there was more. My husband ordered the crispy rice and I ordered the Otoro spoons which were both full of great flavors. Our waiter also recommended the off menu loaded oysters, which were basically the Otoro spoons on top of raw Japanese oysters. Those were also very delicious. We ordered a few more rolls to share, which were fresh but nothing special and on par with other sushi restaurants a little closer to home with us. My husband also ordered the tonkatsu ramen, which looked great, but I didn’t try, and he was so full at that point I don’t know that he could appreciate the jammy egg and well cooked pork. I definitely want to come back to try their omakase!
