Papermakers Arms is a country pub oozing rural charm & rustic character, set in the picturesque village of Plaxtol. Offering the finest British food locally sourced (wherever possible) from quality suppliers, this impressive destination pub serves the heart of the community as well as visitors from further afield. The seasonal menus are complemented by carefully selected cask ales, a superior list of fine wines & an extensive gin menu many of which are produced locally.

Lovely evening. Fantastic service by Alice., friendly, efficient and extremely attentive. Sea bream was delicious.

Lovely menu and very tasty food - well the mains at least. Staff were brilliant - very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Only slight downside was the desserts. We had three different ones and none of them were particularly nice. Grainy cheesecake, bubbly brownie (weird texture) and cold rice pudding. That was just weird. Surprising considering the quality of the mains which were all delicious.

Delicious sunday roast . Walked around Plaxtol then finished off with delicious lunch . Larkins local beer was very well liked by hubby . I had beetroot and sweetpotato wellington - delicious . Nice size portions

The room is lovely as were the staff . Unfortunately the food was not great . Husband and friend chose a roast and quite honestly their plates were sparse!!! 3 measley potatoes 1 carrot 1 parsnip and even the meat wasn’t great I felt embarrassed as had told friend how good the food at this place was!! I had the spinach and leek lasagne as did my daughter which was fine it comes with few slices of garlic bread but would have preferred a salad as an option , Limited stater choice and don’t get the soup it’s in such a shallow bowl!!!

Lovely food - great Sunday roast! We loved the “Blooming Onion” starter, it was delicious and very creative. Staff were friendly and attentive. Shame they ran out of the Apple Crumble!

It was a quiet day so the pub was very comfortable. Service was just right and the food excellent. The very large portion of apple crumble and custard was delicious but defeated us!

We are fans of The Papermakers but were disappointed on this occasion. Although required to commit to a no-show charge, I do not feel the business met its side of the bargain. We did not take long to finalise our order but by just after 7.15pm the top 3 choices were exhausted and off the menu. Last resort for me was the fish and chips but sorry to say the fish was overdone, the batter hard and dark brown and the fish inside was dry. We will return but probably better outside peak demand periods.
