From July 1st, 1957, there had been two owners of Pates, Cloyde Pate followed by the Gardner family of Chatham. Mr. Pate opened the doors to what would soon become one of Cape Cod’s most beloved restaurants. Once a cozy hamburger and ice cream stand, Pates grew to be a place of celebration, camaraderie, and community. From the bonds staff made during countless summer seasons, to the engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, and family gatherings, Pates has been a backdrop for exceptional moments and people.

We are honored to steward the next chapter of the Pates journey. A renovated space to create new memories and friends, Pates is still that very special place. With careful consideration, we have redefined this Chatham classic and are serving up an experience rooted in the best things in life: great food, good people, and lifelong memories.

First time experiencing Pare’s on New Years Eve exceeded our expectations. If you like to share, which we do:), it’s the place for you. Duck tacos and burrata raviolis were exquisite!

Had a wonderful experience there on New Year’s Eve. Asked for a table near the door because my husband has difficulty walking. Perfect seating area. Our waitress Quinn was great, very attentive and pleasant. Dinner was very tasty. My husband had shrimp scampi and I had the seafood pan roast. Highly recommend

Cape prices are cape prices, so value is how I judge a restaurant. They have some fantastic wines at reasonable by the glass prices. Cocktails were creative and delicious. 3/4 people cleaned their plates and the one who didn’t was only because the portion was HUGE for the pork chop. Duck tacos and butternut squash bisque were luxurious. We went on New Years Eve with every table full so if they can pull this off on a busy holiday, I have full faith in this place. 11/10– loved it!

We always have a great experience at Pate’s, partly because we always ask for our favorite server, Heather! The cocktails and the food are always terrific- this time, I ordered a double pork chop, instead of seafood, my normal go-to on the Cape. It was perfectly prepared with a delicious, tangy sauce. Pate’s offers the best dining experience on this part of the Cape, as far as we’re concerned!

Disappointing - Food was ok. Not great. Service was poor, because it seemed to be low on staff. Not the fault of the server.

Best dish was the Seafood Pan Roast with lots of lobster, scallops and shrimp. Haddock was also good. Finished with flourless chocolate cake. So Rich and beautiful presentation . Great Christmas Eve!
