The renowned art of dry aging finally arrives in San Mateo, as our new dry aging window is now completed. We are proud to be the only restaurant on the Peninsula (In between San Francisco & San Jose) to have an in-house dry aging facility. Our new menu featuring these marvelous cuts of beef is now available.
To accompany your steak, our Wine List celebrates the acclaimed wines of Napa Valley, Willamette Valley, France and Italy. In addition to our steak and chop offerings, our Chef provides for a daily selection of fresh fish and seafood.

We shared the wild mushrooms and Brussels sprouts for our appetizer for the 4 of us. They were delicious! We then shared the chicory salad. It was the only dish that was mediocre. One of us had the mixed grill, another the 20 ounce porterhouse and the other two each had the 8 ounce Filet Mignon. All were outstanding and cooked perfectly! Melted in our mouths! We shared a bread pudding for dessert. Very tasty. Our waiter was excellent! The entire staff was welcoming and we look forward to returning!

We’ve been coming here over the last two years. Food and service were great! Enjoyed the bone-in ribeye, pork chop and halibut.

Just a great evening's dinner. Wonderful waiter and food is awesome. They do it right every time. It is fun to have such a quality restaurant in San Mateo.

Porterhouse is a bit overpriced for the experience. The food is great, of course, but you can get the same quality at Ruth's Chris and other places and pay far less. There were small issues, nothing to really complain about but when paying a premium price, you expect premium service. Our wait staff was great but the small thing was the dessert. The flambe (bananas foster) should be tableside. That is part of the experience. Instead, it was around the corner where I could hardly see it. If that's the case, why do it in the dining room at all? Do the flambe part in the kitchen and just bring it out done. That would be better than setting expectations that everyone will get to experience it, then disappoint everyone. If you can't do it right due to fire codes or other restrictions, then don't do it at all and make it clear so there is no expectation and no disappointment. That's all. Like I said, not much to complain about just the dessert and the food being the same as most good steak houses but enough to make me doubt I was getting what I paid a whole lot more for.

First time eating eating at Porterhouse. Restaurant ambience and service was good but came short on the quality of steaks 🥩 we ordered. Sides, salads snd desserts were good.
