Proper 21K, brought to DC from the New York City restaurateurs Rob Zahn and Will Strozier that own Manhattan Proper, and Proper West, opening in August 2020. Located at 2033 K St NW, Proper 21K is a high end sports bar serving All American classics with a gourmet twist. Proper 21K is the second DC location of NIEUW Group INC.

Like its predecessors, located in New York City and DC, Proper 21K serves contemporary American cuisine. The space maintains the modern aesthetic and New York style of the Manhattan locations, which have best been described as Tom Ford meets Thomas Edison. The restaurant provides the best audio & visual for sports, corporate functions, nightlife and other events.

                                                                    We went at 4 on a Sunday so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. The restaurant is very nice atmosphere and the food was good and not too pricey for DC. The crowd picked up around 6 but not soo busy that it felt over crowded or rushed. Def would go back.

                                                                    The staff were very welcoming however, service was a little slow. It was evident they were short (staffed) and training but it wasn't too bothersome. The burgers and wings were really good and we all loved our cocktails. Wait staff very helpful in choosing drinks. I would go back and try other dishes as well.

                                                                    The meal I had at Proper21 was delicious. They even let me substitute sweet potato fries for mashed potatoes. And the fries were awesome and a lot! Our server was delightful and helpful. So was the host at the door. My friends enjoyed their meals, too! We’re so glad we stopped in!

                                                                    We had a blast in this lively bar, very chatty waitstaff, excellent food, strong drinks and eclectic crowd. My colleague is not a fan of sports bars (while I am an afficiando), but they had a great time. Korean chicken wings! Barataria! Rigatoni! All yum.

                                                                    I am NEVER disappointed when I dine in Proper 21. The food is always prepared well and tasty. The Prop wings are my favorite.

                                                                    I have had lunch here multiple times but dinner was a bad experience. There was a big event going on and when I went to check in they took us to the event in the bar after not even giving me time to explain I had booked on OpenTable. I did not get the table I had checked in Open Table and when taken to the high top, there were dirty water glasses there. The services was slow, the room extremely loud, and honestly I was embarrassed because I took a friend there based on my positive lunch experiences. Even the food at dinner did not looks as carefully prepped. I am not sure if this was due to the big event or that dinner is less positive than lunch.
