Hidden from the long arm of Prohibition-era law, Kansas City’s speakeasies welcomed revelers seeking good spirits and a spirited good time.An affectionate nod to the city’s glamorous, freewheeling nightlife, P.S. is Hotel Phillips’ contemporary incarnation of the 1930’s speakeasy, artfully crafting cocktails concealed in a long-forgotten basement mail sorting room, accessible only by an secret door. I was disappointed in our visit to PS. It was billed as a historical location and I didn’t get the sense of that. We walked right in and there was no one at the door to greet us. The online menu on the Google listing had food available for purchase and we were counting on that to refuel for our night. When we arrived, when asked, our server informed us that there was no food service. The drinks were good but we had trouble relaxing to enjoy them because we needed to get some food.

Thought there’s would be small bites, so a little disappointed in that but everything else was great! The service was good. Loved the ambiance and the drinks were delicious! I would definitely go back for some drinks!

Everyone was very nice and attentive! Classic drinks as well as cool specialized drinks. Really beautiful hotel that it’s in and the speakeasy itself is beautiful, moody, and intimate. The drinks were all delicious, just strong enough, and were delivered quickly!

It was a little weird to find but overall the vibe of the place was very nice. The service was really slow for the 8 tables they did have but the girls were nice. 5/10

Drinks were well curated, fairly priced. Staff was friendly and made us feel at home right away. Music was great. Not too loud for the space. Highly recommended.

There is no food so don’t consider the 5 stars for that. The Speakeasy wasn’t quite what I was expecting based on the description and the picture in the elevator but it was great. Our drinks were extremely strong but tasted very good. I had the PS Margarita and my husband had the Old Fashioned. The ambience was perfect for an anniversary evening. Our server kept our drinks coming and was very pleasant. I enjoyed the artwork around the walls. It was lovely experience I only wish it had been a little more secretive but overall was fun.

This place is such a joke! Staying at the Hotel I was only able to make a reservation at 11:30. When I inquired with the concierge if they could get me in a little sooner I was told there was a private party until 11:30. Later that night PS Speakeasy emailed to cancel my reservation due to a private party. I relayed my conversation with the Hotel and told to disregard, that my reservation would be honored. When I showed up at 11:30, the private party was still going on and I was turned away. It was handled unprofessionally and without any regard for me and my time. Why take a reservation you have no intention on honoring? Why couldn’t you get the private party out on time?
