   The restaurant week menu for Publican Quality Meats has to be one of the hidden gems in Chicago. My wife and I really did not know what to expect when we walked in to an empty restaurant, to say I had some misgivings is an understatement but I have to say, this was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. We shared the entire restaurant with another couple and we had a wonderful evening with some excellent food. Each dish was excellent and showed off the Chef's talents. The Pate en Croute was phenomenal and the Beef Bourguignon topped off the evening. My wife and I could not finish the dish so we had it wrapped up and our son devoured the leftovers when he came home from work. Out waiter gave us a handout for the Austrian wine tasting menu and we already purchased tickets for that evening. All I can say to the party of seven that cancelled their reservation that night is that you made a Big Mistake in doing so. You missed out on an excellent meal.

   It was a surprise as we thought we had a reservation in The Publican. Nevertheless the experience was great and the menu they offered interesting and delicious.

   Attended a James Beard dinner with friends - fantastic menu & great wine pairings (Oregon wines). Fun evening!

   Always a great experience. Such a great spot, love the special events and the regular menu along with the to go products.

   Attended for restaurant week and did not disappoint! Was a unique experience from the large family style seating to the incredible pasta and beef shank. Chef himself gave us the menu low down and only one setting per night made the whole affair intimate. 11/10!

   Simply amazing! We had the opportunity to join in a Restaurant Week experience and it was such a great time. 4 courses of salad, pasta, melt in your mouth beef shank and meyer lemon tart were perfection.

   We have been to three previous Cassoulet evenings, all of which were outstanding. This one was not. Bread was served only after everyone had finished their salads. The cassoulet was served lukewarm, with burned beans which, since they were pervasive, we assumed were a feature, not a flaw, but they were not a good feature. The opening remarks built up expectations that were not even remotely approached by what was served. Publican Quality Meats is a good place but I will never recommend this Cassoulet dinner again, unless it is overseen in person by the Chef from Castelnaurdy.
