We are excited to welcome you to Rania, DC's hottest destination for modern Indian food. Tom Sietsema has called our food "some of the most inspired Indian cooking in DC." At Rania, we offer homage to the time-honored traditions, rich flavors, and spices of India in an intimate, luxurious setting. We look forward to sharing our vision with you!

Presenting sophisticated, highly acclaimed 4-course prix-fixe menu, with an upcoming debut of our chef's tasting menu.

Policies:
-Dress Code: Smart Business Casual. No shorts, athletic wear, or baseball caps are allowed.
-Children under 10 are not allowed in the main dining areas.
-Reservations are available for parties of up to 6 people.
- A non-refundable deposit of $30 per person is required for parties larger than 5.
-A 20% gratuity will be added to all parties 5 or more.

The food was an outstanding experience, which was unfortunately diminished by several aspects. In a truly stellar Michelin restaurant, the service should be impeccable and unobtrusive. Servers should handle bottles, glasses, and plates with the utmost care, using a cloth at minimum to avoid direct contact with bare hands. This attention to detail not only maintains hygiene but also elevates the overall dining experience. The presentation of glassware is equally important. Glasses should be placed from the side of the guest, not from behind, demonstrating respect for the diner's personal space and allowing for a more graceful service. This approach also enables the server to engage with the guest more naturally, enhancing the overall interaction. The ambiance of the dining area is crucial to maintaining the illusion of a seamless, luxurious experience. Storage boxes, fridges, or any back-of-house elements should remain hidden from the guests' view. The dining space should be a sanctuary, free from the distractions of kitchen operations or storage areas. Perhaps most importantly, the presentation of the check should be handled with discretion and timing. A hallmark of excellent service is waiting for the guests to request the check, rather than presuming to bring it uninvited. It's particularly egregious to present the bill while diners are still enjoying their meal, as this can make guests feel rushed and diminish the overall experience. In conclusion, while a Michelin star primarily recognizes culinary excellence, the service and ambiance play integral roles in creating a truly memorable dining experience. When these elements fall short, it can detract from the magic of the meal and leave diners questioning the restaurant's prestigious accolade.

The food was okay and the service was incredible… HOWEVER TWO OF THE THREE PERSONS HAD REALLY BAD DIARRIA WITHIN TWO HOURS AFTER LEAVING THE RESTAURANT..

We had a 7 course tasting menu with wine pairing. It was AMAZING! Order a cocktail and be ready to be amazing with the presentation and excellent drink. The food flavors were memorable. Each course was perfect! The wait staff ate attentive and accommodating but not intrusive. This mean was so unique and excellent. We stayed for over 3 hours.

Tables are similar to those of a diner. Doesn’t look luxurious at all. Food was nothing special. The menu is very confusing.

The food was amazing - many layered, deep flavors, beautifully presented. The four of us ordered different dishes and passed them around with portions generous enough for good tastes. The weak point was service - a little less attentive than I expected; we went a good while without fresh pours of wine and a lag before someone came to take our order for our second bottle. Ultimately it did not detract from a lovely birthday celebration!

What a delicious way to enjoy Indian food. The food just kept coming and the Chef's tasting and wine pairing were amazing. The staff were very attentive. Definitely worthy of a Michelin star.

Very, very loud. We did the chef tasting menu and it was pretty meh - it wasn’t bad but not a lot of wow factor that you might expect.

Had a wonderful dinner! We ordered 4 course meal. The staff were polite, food was delicious. My favorite of the the night were Shrimps, Chaat & Salmon!
