Travis and Ryan Croxton debut their spinoff from the highly acclaimed Rappahannock Oyster Bar at Union Market in Washington, DC. They’ve even brought their DC Chef, Kevin Kelly, to man the kitchen at this outpost. This location in the historic Cigar Factory Building on East Bay Street, allows room for Chef Kelly to showcase more of his cuisine to a larger audience, including an incredibly unique 40 seat raw bar. Oysters grown by the Croxton’s own Rappahannock Oyster Company are accentuated, but Kelly’s signature dishes like lambs’n’clams, crabcakes, shrimp & grits and the best po’ boy you’ll ever eat are enough reasons in their own right for constant visits. Coupled with a great cocktail program and focus on local ingredients, ROB is a great place for any occasion.

Out of town colleagues and I had a wonderful dinner. Local fish of the day was a black grouper and it was delicious, fresh, and had a nice presentation. Another had the shrimp and grits. Biggest serving I’ve ever seen of that dish in this town. We started with raw oysters and they were on point! Decent wine list and our server,Joe, was fantastic. Don’t sleep on Rappahannock.

Very disappointed after hearing a couple people SA it was good. My wife’s sole was dry, and likely because it was frozen. My Ceviche appetizer was good, but my muscles main course were probably the worst muscles I’ve ever had, and I get muscles a lot. They were not quality muscles and the broth had some much paprika it that it actually gagged me. We will not be returning. There are SO many other, better places in Charleston for seafood that there’s no need to go to these chain restaurants.

The best dinner experience! The oysters are amazing & we did the chefs table experience. So much food and everything turned out perfect. The chef did an amazing job picking out plates for us to try. Our server Kailey was exceptional! Will always come back here when we visit Charleston.

This is one of our favorite places for date night or entertaining friends! The oyster selections is superb and service is always top notch! We always have a wonderful experience.

My husband & I are not new to Rappahannock. We have dinner here every time we are in town. Usually having dinner at/in the bar area. Wonderful restaurant with A PARKING LOT! 🤣. Tonight I booked a Chef Dinner experience at the counter ,"Mercy of the Chef". It was wonderful! $75 per person- Chef Gerald takes allergies/ taste preferences into consideration. Each chef dinner is different/ special- tonight we each started with a variety of 6 raw oysters served with red snapper ceviche/chips; followed by crostini w/burrata w/roasted red pepper & pesto. Then mussels smothered in French onion soup and fennel garnish. First entree was grouper over couscous, followed by Short rib with gnocchi. Dessert: chocolate ice cream with a 3 layer cake (I checked out from food coma by dessert, so we brought it home (along with 1/2 our entrees)). My descriptions do not do this experience justice! Chef always checking in with us and our server, Joey, was attentive and friendly, as always. Give Rappahannock a try for easy bar dinner or an elevated, but comfortable chef dinner. Can't go wrong!

Oysters were terrific. Fish and chips was just ok. Fries could’ve been a bit crispy. Grits and slaw were very good, super creamy. Calinari was just ok. Too much gloopy sauce all over. Would return for oysters and cocktails. Server was delightful.
