RedFarm brings a greenmarket sensibility to modern and inventive Chinese food and super-charged dim sum complemented by modern, rustic décor. Joe Ng’s menu takes a clean, fresh approach to Chinese food. Signature items include clever dim sum creations for which Ng is known and small plates: Pac Man dumplings; yuzu wasabi shrimp; mushroom spring rolls that evoke a chanterelle mushroom; and a sculptural chicken salad. Modern takes on classic main dishes includes remarkably tender marinated rib steak with steamed baby bok choy and spicy steamed sea bass.

RedFarm is located at 201 West 3rd St., in Downtown Austin, at the corner of West 3rd and Colorado Streets.

I came here when they first opened and it was alright & decided to give it an another chance and so glad I did!! The food was delish, the service was great & the mocktails were so yummy. Alsooooo we got a chocolate dumpling for dessert and I’ll be thinking about that for days. Will be back!!

The quality of the food was very good. The time and day we went the restaurant was empty, it was between lunch and dinner service so perhaps to be expected. That made the ambience a little extra quiet. We had the soup dumplings and those had perfect taste. The vinegar and chili oil came with the soup dumplings as expected. The trio veggie dumplings were very tasty and fresh too, the presentation was beautiful. After that we had shrimp Har Gow and that was perfect too. Then we ordered their Peking Duck with pancakes. The pancakes are super thin and made of wheat flour served in a steam basket nice and hot, the duck was perfect in every way, the toppings were abundant and nicely presented. We enjoyed the picked radish that came with it and the hoisin sauce.

Food was very average as were the drinks and ambience. Most of the food was on the sweeter side of things and not something we enjoy. Definitely a let down as it was an anniversary dinner

Went on the tail end of happy hour—whole dining area can enjoy happy hour (not just the bar!) and the value is good! I have a tougher allergy (citrus) but the waiter was amazing and wrote down everything I could have, and made accommodations when necessary which is so appreciated in a restaurant like this that’s sharing plates style. 5 of us ate and drank for under $300 before tip—and EVERYTHING was delicious, even after accommodations!

Great food, terrible service. Ordered a $90 bottle of sake and a martini before entrees and most apps hit the table, never received the bottle of sake and the martini arrived at the table when we were tabbing out (Over an hour since we ordered). Beers were ordered 15 minutes after the martini and sake, and those came within 10 minutes of ordering. The table next to us ordered 2 rounds of cocktails and were seated after us, so it wasn’t an issue with the bar. The server also wasn’t communicating or refilling waters. Not sure what happened, won’t be returning.

Overall, the experience was favorable. This was a birthday dinner for my daughter. We were seated in a nice area. We ordered tea among other food items. We were never brought our tea and it was still added to our bill. We had multiple servers which may have caused confusion to our table. We were not offered to refresh our glasses without us asking. Mind you we had reservations at 7 and it wasn't busy. We noticed around 8pm the restaurant got busier. We felt we were rushed as they kept asking if we were finished then cleared and wiped our table way before we were ready to leave. Felt like we were at a place like a Dennys. There was no recognition to our reason for the visit - a very special birthday.

Excellent food. Duck was very tasty and vegetables cooked perfectly. Had Dim Sum to start- stuffed jalopenos, shrimp dumplings and lobster dumplings- all delicious! The service was attentive but not intrusive. Was busy for Christmas Day and had a nice relaxed atmosphere. We’ve been before and we’ll be going again. Highly recommended!

Great food great service:) those chicken shrimp lollipops are ridiculous and the soup dumplings will smack you into next week! Damn good food:)

Best soup dumplings we’ve ever had. Great atmosphere and everything we had was really good. Highly recommend the dim sum menu.
