August is a Contemporary Creole restaurant creating unique dishes with a focus on Louisiana ingredients and inspired by classical training. Located in a historic 19th century French-Creole building in New Orleans’ Central Business District, the main dining room caters to the most unique dining experience. The interior is rich with original architectural details, gleaming hardwood floors, soaring columns, mahogany paneling and antique mirrors.

Dagli editor di OpenTable: August remains the flagship restaurant within the BRG Hospitality group, and it’s a grande dame dining room of New Orleans. The building rose tall in the 1830s, and the elegant space features mahogany panels and antique mirrors. The modern Creole menu offers a chef’s tasting in seven courses, from red snapper crudo to lavender panna cotta. The team also has a reputation for impeccable service, earning a couple of James Beard nominations in the past decade.

                                                      Quiet, well-kept surroundings. The staff are very attentive, but the real jewel of this restaurant is the cuisine: refined, fresh and harmonious. It's rare to find standards of comparable quality in the United States, even during the holidays! Being French and a member of the Italian Academy of Cuisine, I can only say, bravo!

                                                      Compared to American standards, food was definitely good. Compared to European standards food was at most mediocre and extremely overpriced. You could dine at great Michelin restaurants for these kind of money, but this restaurant is far from Michelin level.

                                                      Staff went out of their way to make sure that our experience was the best it could be. Kudos to them on their approach without being intrusive but complimentary. Food was delicious and left you wanting more. You can find good food everywhere but the complement of the excellent service is what stood out from third place.

                                                      Unfortunately, our overall experience did not reflect what other recent guests have described. The service was not special and was rushed and short (from the primary dedicated server). The server was overall not warm or thorough and did not adequately provide descriptions of the menu and instead gave one to two word responses without any elaboration. It was very surprising after reading others write about impeccable service. The duck entree was phenomenal and one of the best we’ve had. The snapper pontchartrain lacked flavor and did not appear to include any pontchartrain related ingredients and/or wasn’t well executed. The atmosphere and aesthetics of the restaurant was wonderful. It is beautiful and a cozy and romantic vibe.
