August is a Contemporary Creole restaurant creating unique dishes with a focus on Louisiana ingredients and inspired by classical training. Located in a historic 19th century French-Creole building in New Orleans’ Central Business District, the main dining room caters to the most unique dining experience. The interior is rich with original architectural details, gleaming hardwood floors, soaring columns, mahogany paneling and antique mirrors.

Dagli editor di OpenTable: August remains the flagship restaurant within the BRG Hospitality group, and it’s a grande dame dining room of New Orleans. The building rose tall in the 1830s, and the elegant space features mahogany panels and antique mirrors. The modern Creole menu offers a chef’s tasting in seven courses, from red snapper crudo to lavender panna cotta. The team also has a reputation for impeccable service, earning a couple of James Beard nominations in the past decade.

    Restaurant August presents our Chef's Tasting Menu - a journey through nine dishes to encapsulate the August experience including Fruits de Mer, Spoon Bread & Caviar, Pan-Seared Grouper, Roasted Duck Breast & Dirty Rice, Grilled A5 Wagyu, Lemon Myrtle Ice Cream, and "Root Beer Float." This menu is $185 per person excluding tax and gratuity. Enhance your meal with a thoughtful and intentional wine pairing with six courses, +$110 per person or reserve wine pairings, + $170 per person.

    It’s been a couple of years since we visited August. Everything was exceptional. The staff was just amazing and the food matched the staff. It’s good to see a restaurant like this still anchoring New Orleans.

    This is our third visit to August. It gets better every single time. This isn’t just food, it’s a meal that you won’t soon forget. Each dish brings you to a place beyond description, leaving you wondering and asking, how did they do that? By far the best restaurant in the city and dare I say in the country. It is not cheap but you you will leave satisfied beyond words!

    One of the most incredible meals we have ever had with the most amazing and friendly staff. We cannot wait to come back and have the chefs tasting menu!

    For about ten years, before the pandemic, we went to August twice each year to celebrate our birthdays. This was our first time back, and the food was as good as ever. However, the experience was not. After we were served the main course, the waiter asked, “How’s everything tasting so far?” Wait, were we in the Longhorn Steakhouse? That’s not something that a waiter in a restaurant of this caliber should ever ask. The wine list offered a 2019 Guigal Crozes-Hermitage, but we were brought a 2021 (the sommelier sort of corrected the mistake by bringing us a 2020, saying that the wine list needed to be updated). After the initial glass, we poured our own wine. August would once bring black napkins if patrons were wearing black. This evening, white was good enough. OK— these are small details, but if a meal is going to cost $300+ for two people, all of these things matter— the experience of a great meal. If Michelin were rating restaurants in New Orleans, August would get a pass, and it didn’t used to be that way.

    Restaurant August is worth a trip to NOLA in itself. Rich ambiance, professional and hospitable staff and succulent cuisine. Try the Tuna Crudo and Snapper Ponchartrain. Or anything on the menu including the Chef’s Tasting Menu if you are hungry enough.

    I have never had a better dining experience in all of New Orleans. The tasting menu was of three Micheline star quality, the service impeccable and the library dining room quiet and elegantly appointed. The best course was the spoon bread course with caviar and Rodolphe le Meunier butter. Outstanding!!! If you don't eat here you will miss the best dining experience in all of Louisiana. As a member of the James Beard Foundation in NYC, I give it 5 stars.
