Retro Metro is 28 years in the making. After both Chef Tiny and Chef Hana crafted culinary greatness at The Metropolitan Grill in Springfield, they decided to go their own way. Southwest Springfield needed a great steak joint and they were just the power couple to bring it. Retro Metro is a “greatest hits album” of Metropolitan Grill — its legacy. But not only do they honor the greatest hits, they create innovative, new dishes, too. Combine Chef Tiny’s decades of restaurant experience with Chef Hana’s California Culinary Academy training and you’ve got the mashup of the century.

What’s with the menu names? Each dish is named after a member of the Retro family — after all, they’re the most valuable part! Look closely at the menu to see the year that each dish debuted.

We sat in the bar area last night, no band, and had a wonderful evening dining with our son and his friend. The Prime rib is SO good, but I tried the Summer Tomato pesto and shrimp pasta. The shrimp were huge! A new favorite for me! Brandon and Hanna have the best staff! Always friendly and helpful. Our go to place for great food and atmosphere reminiscent of the show “Cheers” where “everyone knows your name”.

The meal was delicious. Our server, Selena, was outstanding - from excellent wine suggestions to attentive service. A wonderful evening at an excellent restaurant.

Here from out of state for the funeral of a precious friend. Had no idea what to expect, but with a party of ten it was hard to find a restaurant to accommodate us on short notice. We had a room all to ourselves. The table was set beautifully. The server was precious, helpful and sweet. The food? It was superb! Our party was able to relax while we remembered our friend and the great times of our youth. Our experience made a difficult day end with laughter, and the complimentary cookies were just the right touch. I cannot thank you enough. Highly recommend Retro Metro!

Friendly, knowledgeable service ! The Salmon was great, and of course the flash fried spinach! Bree made a Sangria that was the favorite of the table! Thank you to Tiny and his amazing staff!

We had a great experience at Retro Metro, food was excellent and our server Kari went the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect. By far the best service we have had anywhere. A special thanks to Kari!

Only reason didn’t give ambiance the highest remark was noise level. Little high for fine dining. This was our 2nd time there. Food has always been a 10/10. Little on the high side put the food and flavor makes up for it completely. Our waitress was great was sorry to hear it was her last day / shift but wished her will in nursing school. No doubt will will return.

Retro Metro had some of the most incredible food, kind and attentive staff (Kari made us feel taken care of and like very spoiled diners), and lovely atmosphere out of any restaurant I've ever been to. We absolutely can't wait to return!

We went to Retro Metro for the first time and would highly recommend to others. Our waitress Kari was very personal and attentive and while she had other tables we felt like a priority. We left feeling like family! Our menu recommendations, flash fried spinach, lobster bisque, sparkling rose and the tiramisu! Make a reservation before you go, you won’t regret dining at Retro Metro.
