Located in Greenville’s Historic West End district, Rick Erwin’s West End Grille is a traditional American steak and seafood house that takes fine dining to new levels. With a stylish bar, cozy wine cellar, and inviting dining room bathed in rich, dark woods, West End Grille boasts an atmosphere infused with ambiance and complemented by an extensive contemporary menu and fine wine list. At the same time, intimate and striking, sophisticated and comfortable. A private glass-encased dining room seats 24 and is adjacent to an elegant wine cellar with a vast selection of fine wines. Next door to the restaurant is a private 2,500 square-foot private dining room available for larger private dinners and special occassions. Rick Erwin's feels like everything a restaurant aspired to be in 1992. The setting is traditional though not dated, with good lighting and music that's perfectly unnoticed. The servers wears white jackets and are attentive at all the right times. But the menu is as boring as it gets. All the usual suspects are present, and in the same exact presentation you first saw 40 years ago. On top of that, the food is bland and the quality is middling, only a bit better than a big chain steakhouse. To finish the meal off, expect to pay dearly for the experience. Rick Erwin's is right there with the most expensive restaurants in the area. I wouldn't recommend it at half the price.

We had a fabulous meal (oysters, salmon entree, she-crab soup, wedge salad), and excellent service from Kevin. Mr. Erwin came by our table to introduce himself and make certain we were happy with our experience. We appreciated his kind words. Highly recommend!

Overall service and atmosphere was good. However the steak was comparable to Long Horn at twice the price than Long Horn. I was disappointed as in the past the service was excellent as well as the steak. I will not return but may try the East side location to see if they are maintaining the Rick Erwin standards of the past. Perhaps I was profiled by the staff because I am awaiting my implants of my front teeth not sure but something was truly wrong.

Do yourself a favor and go live the experience of dining at the best restaurant in Greenville. The service was above and beyond, the place was gorgeous and the food was definitely a treat in every bite! You could cut that steak with a spoon. Literally the best food me and my wife have had, plus the whole experience made this an unforgettable night.

This was our first visit here. We had drinks at the bar before dinner, very good experience. At dinner we shared several dishes… all were wonderful! Staff was great, very attentive. We plan to go back.
