Seafood lovers will find a lovely haven at Rodney's Oyster House! Rodney's maritime hospitality can be found in the heart of the Beltline District in downtown Calgary. Anchored on the corner of 4th St. & 10 Ave SW in a bright and rustic room where our knowledgeable shuckers pair succulent aphrodisiacs with local beer and classic wines. Rodney's is built on a strong foundation with a singular focus - growing, sourcing, and serving some of the finest oysters from around the globe. Our classic costal menu features house made chowders, live lobster and crab, fresh mussels and scallops, shrimp, and sustainably sourced fish. Love the original one in Yaletown, Vancouver. This was a bit of a disappointment. Ambience was good, besides the annoyed hostesses standing around at the front. Service started out great and quickly went downhill. Oysters were fantastic, mussels and frites were decent and crab cakes were great. Caesar salad had so much garlic it was almost inedible. Scallop & pork belly appetizer was awful. The pork belly and sauce were both so burnt it was stuck to the plate and the scallops were barely seared or cooked. There was 3 tiny pieces on a plate that you could have easily fit 10, with a bunch of old radish just thrown around. Just looked cheap and tasted the same. I wouldn’t go back - at $200 for dinner with 3 drinks, there are a number of better places to go. Big Fish is so much better.

The scallops in the pasta dish were overcooked and chewy. The black cod was excellent but the baby potatoes were undercooked and bitter. The crème brule wasn’t good. There were only 2 dessert options. The pop was $5/glass, but mostly ice. The server forgot to bring the extra setting to the table so we had to take cutlery and plates from The next table. She was not well informed about the menu. We sat upstairs and the bench we sat on was not comfortable. The lighting and the noise level were appropriate but it wasn’t a busy night.

As always Rodney’s is fun, with excellent food. There aren’t many real seafood restaurants in town, even less good ones. Rodney’s is always good.

This is my second time at Rodney’s and it has been consistent. 70 mins for our appetizers to come for a work lunch event…. Than another 45 mins after they cleared the table for simple fish and chips to come. Totally unreasonable for a lunch…. Well for anything. While the food is good. It’s simply not worth the wait or the price.

Great place for dinner. Happy hour offers 6 oysters and a drink for $20 which was amazing. Though their appetizers need some work.... A jar of cold mussels with 3 toasts? Scallops sliders that are all bread? Card cakes the size of a tonnie.... not a great value.

We went for a causal date night. We had the scallop and pork belly and mussels and frites. The blackcod is soooo fresh. It was done exceptionally great, soft, just right, flaky and flavourful. My husband is so impressed with the arctic char which is just done right and so juicy with a crunchy flavor skin. He is sooooo impressed with the skills of the chef.

This is the second time we go to eat, the first time I can say it was great but this time unfortunately we can't say the same. We were almost two hours waiting for our food from the time we ordered and even ordered appetizers and everything arrived at the same time, the restaurant was not crowded enough for such a delay. I also work in a restaurant and I know about the things that can happen but in order to provide a good service I explain to the client why it will take so long and we apologize for it (which was not our case) we all had a discount for drinks except one person for not ordering a drink, that is, if a person who is the one who ordered the most did not order a drink, will not receive the discount? really none of the people who were there agreed with this. And it should be noted that there was a table long before us and they brought their food long after ours. We really hesitate to return.
