   Ron of Japan offers a delightful experience for the whole family. We were seated with two other very friendly couples at our table and were served by an excellent chef and service staff. The menu is big and it's rather a challenge to sort out the options, but all were good. The chef put on quite a show preparing and cooking the various parts of the meal, with different choices for the various folks, but all were well done and appetizing.

   Absolutely the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. First they don’t tell you that you’ll be seated with other random people. I was expecting a steakhouse with my own table but it ended up being hibachi style seating with high schoolers. We should’ve left when we realized this was the case, but we decided to give it a chance to see if the food would make up for that. It didn’t, the food was horrible and super overpriced. I paid 200 dollars for 2 little pieces of shrimp and 2 little steaks and 2 beverages. I love my food to be seasoned but the food was so salty that’s all you could taste. We asked for the steak to be cooked medium rare and we got a rubbery well done. I never write reviews and always try to give places the benefit of the doubt but this place is falsely advertising the experience you’ll receive and they’re scamming people out of their hard earned money and I hope anyone that reads this doesn’t end up going and getting robbed like we did.

   I do not recommend. Our cook was depressing. He admitted being called in at the last minute on an off day and did not want to be there. He announced this at the start of the meal and killed the atmosphere for my 13 y/o's birthday. I spoke with a manager, and they could not replace the cook. So for the next 90 minutes, the cook stared off into space while making our meal, which cost $250 w/o tip for 5 of us. If it were just my wife and me, we would have left, but this was planned months ago for my 13 y/o, and we were stuck. The staff there is unhappy and honestly depressing. This is not a place to celebrate. I'm sure this review will prompt management to yell at the staff to be happier...

   We had a wonderful dinner. The soup is delicious with lots of chicken, noodles and scallions. My filet was so tender and flavorful. My husband enjoyed his golden shrimp, calamari and scallops. You can’t have a bad meal here !!

   I had an amazing dining experience at Ron of Japan! From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and truly made us feel welcome. The food was absolutely delicious, expertly prepared, and full of flavor. Every dish was cooked to perfection, and the presentation was just as impressive as the taste. The teppanyaki experience was not only delicious but also entertaining, making it a fun and memorable meal. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a fantastic dinner, Ron of Japan is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!

    One of my all-time favorite restaurants, Ron of Japan - Northbrook, has regained my trust as a great choice for special events or a terrific meal out with friends. A few years back, I had a couple disappointing meals and was really concerned that things were not headed in the right direction. However, I've been back several times during the last year and I'm truly happy to say that things have gotten back to where they were years ago when the food was amazing, the service great, and the opportunity to meet people while sharing a table has never been better. As a vegetarian, my food choices are a bit limited, but the tofu shitake dinner is a reliable choice. The egg-sauce, which I ask to be liberally added to every dish, is amazing. Perhaps more importantly, unlike in years past, I had no problem last night getting refills on drinks, asking for chopsticks, or any other requests. While unintrusive, the waitstaff was attentive and available. My friend's steak and shrimp were apparently good enough that he finished everything, including desert - not an easy feat. Seriously, this is a great place to share with friends and colleagues and they seem to be hitting on all cylinders again. I'm really happy for the comeback (even if their prices went up a bit).
