We have had dinner at roots five years in a row and last night was the best meal that we’ve had. Lovely staff great food.

Edgar was our server m, who we have had before, and he is excellent. This was our fourth or fifth time eating at Root over the last four years and have never had a bad meal there. Last night we had the octopus which is terrific and also the special which was swordfish. Both were cooked perfectly and with lovely flavor. We also had the chicken empanadas as an appetizer. They are good but I enjoy larger empanadas found at restaurants outside the resort. All in all, we highly recommend Roots when staying at the resort or in Rio Grande.

We all agreed that our meal was fantastic, but it was unfortunate that it took 2 1/2 hours for one drink and entrées only. Even though there were 10 of us, I don’t think we got a drink for 45 minutes and then waited for the check and then for him to come back for the check For at least 30 minutes at the end which always leaves a sour taste. But the food – that was all exceptional.

Everything we had for dinner was delicious! Low key ambience, a/c a bit too cold, music a bit too techno, and fantastic service. Overall, a really solid hotel restaurant.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Roots this evening and it was so refreshing to see a return of excellent service. It has been hit and miss the last couple of years, but tonight’s dinner restored all faith in Roots. All the food items were great but the service provided by Edgar was exceptional.
