For ninety-eight years, New York's defining cultural moments have taken place at Russian Tea Room. Ever since members of the Russian Imperial Ballet founded the restaurant in 1926, it has been a second home for boldface names and the intellectual elite-an exclusive enclave where actors, writers, politicians, and businessmen planned their next deals and feted their friends' latest Carnegie Hall performances.

    Was a great experience went there during lunch time . The food was great . My mother ordered a chicken breast dish with mushroom and mashed potatoes and half of the chicken was raw . She told them and gave a different dish . Didn’t charge us for the first dish . Had the crispy chicken sandwich was juicy and delicious. The drinks was great had the expresso martini wasn’t to strong and wasn’t two sweet just right. Would back there again and try the dinner menu.

    The restaurant is everything that reputation says and more. A must visit while in NYC. Might be a bit pricy for families with kids, but it is definitely worth the food, atmosphere, and experience. Obviously, mm are sure you try some of the many teas.

    Such an iconic part of New York City! Ambience and decorations are gorgeous. Busy in a classic Russian way but everything looked fresh - not tired and worn. That’s amazing in an old restaurant. Service was impeccable. They helped me get in and out of my booth each time. My brunch entree was enjoyable though it in and of itself was not quite at the level of staying in my memory as one of my favorites but the RTR blintzes for dessert were the best thing I’ve ever eaten. Worth the trip and the price for those alone. Patrons at other tables were having the afternoon tea which looked amazing. If you’ve always wanted to try the Russian Tea Room but weren’t sure if it lives up to the hype in modern times — I say it absolutely does!

    I went for the dinner with my kids who went to school down on 53rd St. Dining is an overall experience, and you have to take various factors into consideration, and that's why I give the Russian Tea Room an 4 star out of 5, despite the fact that 1) it's filet mignon was way overdone 2) every dish was salty, although I requested light salt; and 3) portion size is pathetic. 4) chef used Chinese element in a vege side, but failed - kitched probably does not have the firepower and Chef prob..ly misunderstood the use of soy sauce and ginger. Chinese cooking = savory from the fire, and not equal soy sauce and ginger. Every employee was devoted to their job and were proud of their job. They took good care of me and of my kids, and I was touched. Travellers from out of town should visit this place - try the afternoon tea and the dinner too. Majestic building and decor.

    We did brunch, which was great; we looked at and saw the tea service, which looks great also. Definitely is worthy of NYC - premium dining experiences!
