We’ve dined at Ruth’s Chris every year for our wedding anniversary. Our past experiences have been great, but this year not so much. First, the service was incredibly slow and it appeared to be just our table (our server). Tables around us who came in after us left well before us. We checked in for our reservation promptly at 6:00 PM. We didn’t get our check until 7:50 PM. Second, I ordered my filet rare, but it came to the table medium rare. They offered to make me a rare filet, but said it would take 10-15 minutes. Who wants to wait for that while my wife is eating her filet. While they did comp our baked potatoes and gave us a tiramisu on the house, having the filet not cooked to my taste coupled with the long wait for our service put a serious damper on the experience. Maybe next year we’ll try Flemings for our anniversary dinner!

The only reason it didn''t get 5 stars is the bathroom was gross! Two stalls out of order, no toilet paper and dirty. I expect more from a restaurant of this caliber.

Maven was a great waiter! We were treated well from the minute we arrived! The manager stopped in to help out and was very friendly!!

I’ve been a loyal patron of Ruth’s Chris and have often chosen it as the go-to place for celebrating special occasions with my family. This Christmas Eve, I wanted to make the evening extra special and decided to take my wife and kids to the Walnut Creek location, even driving two hours to get there. We were dressed tastefully in designer attire, looking forward to a comfortable yet elevated dining experience. However, upon arrival, we were told we couldn’t be seated in the main area because our attire didn’t meet their “business casual” dress code. It was incredibly disappointing, especially since we weren’t dressed inappropriately or informally. What made it worse was the attitude of the staff. There was no warmth or understanding, just a cold dismissal that made us feel judged and unwelcome. The atmosphere lacked the hospitality and appreciation we’ve come to expect from Ruth’s Chris. This experience completely soured what was supposed to be a special evening, and I don’t plan to visit this location again. Ruth’s Chris has always been about exceptional service and creating memorable experiences, but unfortunately, this visit was anything but.

Everything was superb as usual. Everything we ordered was delicious and prepared perfectly. The service was exceptional.

Worst dining experience I have ever had. I have never left a negative review about a restaurant in my life. We had a large party and brought several bottles of wine to enjoy with our dinner. Manager Sara Ross approached our table immediately upon sitting down. She was hostile and rude. She told us they have a “national policy” where they can only open two bottle of wine and if we didn’t like it we could leave. We have been loyal Ruth’s Chris customers for over 20 years. We have brought multiple bottle of wine on numerous occasions and never had an issue. We asked when this new policy was created and asked to see it as we could not find it on their menu or website. No policy was ever produced. Second manger Jenny came to our table and told us we could leave if this would be an ongoing issue. I work in customer service and not once did anyone acknowledge our concerns, express any empathy, or try to connect with us. The restaurant was half empty on the Saturday before Christmas and she told us we could leave if we don’t like it. Our server was great he saved the evening. Food was fine but not what you would expect from a high end steakhouse. We eat out routinely and have never experienced worse customer service or more rudeness from a manager. We will never go back. If you value a nice dinner where you are treated with respect I encourage you to dine elsewhere. Ruth’s Chris Walnut Creek is not what it used to be.
