Enjoy the panoramic view of large oaks and a rolling stream from the many window-side tables, or the large, starlight deck. Or, savor the intimate atmosphere from a comfortable sofa, and in the winter, the warmth of a crackling fireplace.

Ryan's Chef creates a tantalizing selection of appetizers such as jumbo lump crabmeat, steamed mussels in garlic butter and white wine, and oysters Rockefeller. Entrees range from thick, juicy steaks and prime rib to the finest grilled fresh fish and live Maine lobster. Choose from the menu or a superb selection of specials offered nightly. Add a cappuccino and a freshly made dessert to seal the dining experience.

The restaurant has been locally owned and under the same management since 1981. Ryan's has been awarded the Wine Spectator's "Award of Excellence" and is often featured in national publications. Recently awarded the DiRoNa Award for Distinctive Fine Dining.

We had a really nice dinner for my wife's birthday. If you are going to splurge a bit and want excellent food, an awesome ambiance, and stellar service, this place checks all three of those. To the Ryan's staff, my wife was glowing the entire night talking about how wonderful it was to go there for her birthday and how impressed she was with everything. Thanks for making it a memorable experience.

Another great experience at Ryan's. We went for my wife's birthday and our server James made it an exceptional experience. We always receive great service from the staff at Ryan's but James went over and beyond. His recommendations were fantastic and he even gave us a complimentary cup of she-crab soup since we were not sure if we would enjoy it. We enjoyed the bacon wrapped scallops along with the Sea Bass and Salmon entrees.

The food and service were both outstanding. The Caprese with Burrata is a must-have, and the cheese spread on the pretzel roll was SO good. Filet mignon was very good, and I am going to have dreams about the scalloped potatoes. Also had Kahlua espresso cheesecake for dessert which was incredible. The steaks both came out cooked at least one step higher than requested, but we never mentioned it - they were still delicious. Manager dropped by to check on us and chatted for a couple minutes and was very nice. The decor is dated by about 30 years, if that’s something you care about. I don’t. The layout of the restaurant is very comfortable with room to move. We’ve been in Winston for seven months now, and this is the first restaurant that we could truly give a five-star rating to, and we can’t wait to go back - I’d go back just for the burrata alone.

The service was excellent. The ambience is nice as it's a beautiful restaurant, nicely lit (dim but not dark) and not loud. The appetizer was so-so (brie with raspberries) as it didn't have any taste. The steak was decent but the grouper with hollandaise had zero taste and the fish was dry. The asparagus was the most "earthy" tasting vegetable I've ever had but it was cooked perfectly. I can't get over the fish, though. No taste whatsoever. Everyone in the area raves about Ryan's and it's been there since 1977 but I'm not a fan.
