Hmm. So Valentines Day was interesting. Went out with friends and decided to give Salt Stone a try because there were lots of available reservations and we were booking at the last minute. Walking in, the place looked cozy: dark wood, fireplace, cool chandelier. But it all went downhill from there. The hostess asked us if we would like some water, then never brought it. We waited for almost 45 min before asking if we could get a server. Now keep in mind...we were fully enjoying each other’s company and were feeling generous and patient because it was Valentines Day and we expected a little craziness. Any other day we probably would have walked out at that point. When we asked for a server, the man at the table next to us stood up and said “good luck. I ordered 45 min ago and I still haven’t gotten my food.” He left. Still we persisted. Our server was a nice girl and very apologetic about our wait...however after taking our drink order it took another 20 min before we finally saw her again and got our drinks. Ordering food was another ordeal. One friend had her heart set on the Valentines special (cowboy steak) but they were out. She decided to have the ribeye. Also out. So we asked the server what she would recommend that they had. She said the prime rib dip. Great! We all ordered it. She came back a few minutes later with the news...yep...out. We switched to chicken and a panini. After finally placing our order, our hummus appetizer came really quickly. It was good. But we were starving so not super picky at that point. Our drinks ran dry and again we waited. And waited. Thankfully our friends continued to be delightful and our kids were at home, so we were happy to sit there...even though we were growing increasingly hungry. Long story short(I’m running out of words) our food finally came two hours after we arrived. Yay! They compensated us with free desserts and the food was all decent. But SHEESH!!! We won’t be back.

We left. This restaurant is in serious need of updates and the service needs to be trained. The photos online look stylish, but the actual inside is grungy. The walls look like they’ve taken a beating, the seating is dirty, and even the trim behind the back wall seating is dirty. The seating hostess seated us, and then we waited 15 minutes for someone to come greet us, talk to us, take our order... Meanwhile the tables around us had dirty dishes on them and a guy was wheeling a hideous cart full of dishes around the restaurant. This was at 6:00, not closing time! After waiting for 15 minutes, we just got up and left. We were disappointed in the state of the restaurant, and the service was obviously not up to standard

The food was good, but the service was lacking. Only about 60% full on Valentines evening. We ended up getting our own water after being seated for 10 minutes with no one coming by. Took considerable time for any drink or food order to be placed. A little slow coming out, but not to bad. Definitely room for improvement, could be a top notch place.

The food was fine but nothing special. Our waiter was excellent and had good recommendations.

Average experience with a service crew very much absent in mind and food that was good but not exceptional. For a Thanksgiving dinner, it lacked ambience and dedication

This was surprisingly quite good! We wanted to be near the Abravanel Hall and have been disappointed by the lack of restaurants nearby (especially with the cafe Molise move). Have tried to avoid chains and hotel restaurants but decided to try Salt Stone! I’m glad we did! The food was quite good (salads, salmon special, and panini were all enjoyed by our group).
