Sammie’s is a little taste of old Italy in downtown Austin. It celebrates the great ‘red sauce’ institution—inspired by old school, legendary Italian-American restaurants. The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. Please note that patio seating is weather contingent.

The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

Excellent all around. From hostess to waiter to manager. Food was outstanding. What a gem in Austin. We will be back.

We had a sweet little time celebrating my girlfriend’s birthday at Sammie’s! Walked into a really cozy environment, kind of hard to believe this is in Austin, felt like we were back in New York City. Very tasteful & welcoming interior, with plenty of warm greetings from the staff. I thought it was really cool to see all the chefs in the back of the house lock-in with all the orders being requested, they looked solid. Got sat down & had Grace as our server & she took very good care of us. Poured the sparking water & handled the scheduling of our food in a very professional manner. She eventually got cut & we closed out our night with another awesome server, Shea. They were a really good team & that’s something really positive that we like at Sammie’s, is that, everyone that works there together really seem to have everyone’s back. Very sweet & friendly Texan energy. The food was very, very good; my girlfriend was so in love with the Calamari. We’ll have to go there again because it was such a sweet romantic night & the service was superb! Thank y’all for everything! Even the “Happy Birthday” note at our table! Until next time!

This was our first visit to Sammie’s and it doesn’t disappoint. Great food, excellent service. We know now why it’s so hard to get a reservation. Highly recommended.

Another great experience at the Sammie’s Jazz Lunch. The band was great, as always. Great service and a fun atmosphere. Delicious and satisfying food and a very interesting wine list with some unusual and excellent Italian varietals.

I'm not the type to write bad reviews, but Sammie's last night was off their game big time. This was my 5th time visiting the restaurant and every other time was amazing service. We were excited to bring my in-laws to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday. My drink, a negroni, was completely forgotten about, and when my husband mentioned it, it didn't come out until halfway through our meal. Other glasses of wine and meals, that we didn't order kept being dropped off at our table, things that we did order, such as a side of broccoli, never came. The kicker was that we had left in the notes that we were celebrating a birthday. They did leave a "Happy Birthday" card on the table, which was sweet, but all night long, we saw a few other birthday desserts going out to different tables with a candle on top. A birthday dessert was not offered to my FIL who was celebrating his 77th birthday. Instead we paid for three of our own desserts. The food is really good at Sammie's but the service last night was unforgiveable. Very sloppy and disorganized all meal long. I'm sorry to say that this was my fifth and final time visiting this restaurant.
