Sammie’s is a little taste of old Italy in downtown Austin. It celebrates the great ‘red sauce’ institution—inspired by old school, legendary Italian-American restaurants. The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. Please note that patio seating is weather contingent.


The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

    This is our second time at Sammie's and we loved it as much as the first time. This time we came in for my daughter's birthday and she was quite impressed. Our food was fantastic and despite being really busy did not take too long to be served.

    This is the best Italian restaurant in Austin. We love the food and the wait staff is outstanding. Yes, it’s a bit noisy, but well worth it because the food and service are so excellent. We will keep coming back.

    Our waiter, Zach was excellent. Incredibly welcoming, attentive, knowledgeable and made us feel special throughout the night as well as his colleagues. Highly recommend Sammie’s! Thank you Zach and to the entire staff!

    Celebrated my birthday dinner there and have 0 negative feedback! The ambience, food, and service were amazing. This is a great restaurant to celebrate any special occasion. We will be back!

    I could not be happier with our many experiences at Sammie’s. The food is consistently fantastic, the service is incredible and the atmosphere is so fun! It’s always a treat to come here and cannot wait to come back!
