Super service, although the kitchen seemed to be overwhelmed. Emma is the best! Food was great but a bit pricey.

It was our first time at this restaurant and the couple who were next to us raved about how great the food is and even how awesome the service is. Yes, it was Valentine’s Day and it was very busy luckily I was able to make reservations a week before. We were able to get a table within 5-10 minutes after our reserved time. Once seated our waitress was so kind and was able to get our order in quick and items we ordered slowly started to trickle in. All the items we ordered was delicious. Will definitely be coming back and highly recommend.

Great food and great service considering the restaurant was full and they only had 3 servers. The Secret Box and Aburi style nigiri was outstanding as were the tuna tostadas.

This is a hidden gem. The staff was super friendly and the food was AMAZING. Get the sashimi - the hamachi and sake was great.

SO MUCH FUN! Not only is the food delicious and the menu is unique, the staff is incredibly friendly and warm, the service they provide is phenomenal, the music is great, and it has such a great vibe! I brought friends from out of town here and they had the best time! It’s a full experience from your taste buds to every interaction you have while there. I will absolutely be back and I highly recommend it! Thank you so much to Will for the delicious food, and to Ling Ling, Anna and Emma for the fantastic service!

Sushi was good. Sadly, the service was awful. Our party ordered about 5 rolls and various appetizers. Once everything was brought out we fell into a service black hole. Servers never checked if we needed anything else for the next hour we were there. Our used dishes piled up and were never picked up, drinks not refilled. They tended to other diners although the place was only 1/2 full. Had to walk up to the cashier to flag help when I needed anything. Lots of socializing between the staff and their visiting friends.

Impressed with this newly found sushi spot. Service was superb. Staff was so accommodating and friendly. Staff graciously sat us 5 minutes before Happy Hour ended and still allowed us to order from the HH menu, eventhough our reservation was really well past the Happy Hour. Love the chill vibe and sounds of this place. Sushi and tapas were really good. Sashimi well-priced especially at Happy Hour and the rest of the menu are also well valued for your money. Definitely worth the rave reviews I’ve read before I reserved for my son’s birthday dinner for the family. Will come back again…Highly recommend this newly-found gem.

We love Sakura Rock and Roll. Sitting at the sushi bar is the most fun and the staff really make it a great experience. The chefs are all very friendly and like to raise a glass with you if you’re engaging with them and the wait staff is very friendly and fun. Sometimes you have to be a little patient to have your order taken because your servers are talking with other guests, but that’s okay because they offer you the same time and friendly attitude when they come around to your table. The fish is very solid and fresh tasting and rolls are creative and flavorful. This is definitely a place with a fun sort of raucous vibe, so it’s different from one of the more fancy sushi spots in downtown San Mateo. Definitely make sure you have a safe ride home because you will surely want to try some good sake with your meal.
