Selden Standard was also twice named a James Beard semi-finalist for Outstanding Restaurant (2024, 2025), and has been named Restaurant of the Year by both the Detroit Free Press (2015) and Hour Detroit (2016).

    I always have an incredible dining and service experience at this restaurant! The food is always fresh and delicious and well season will return over and over!

    Our meal was absolutely fantastic. The Walleye was outstanding while the squash and smoked potatoes were cooked to perfection! The service was wonderful!

    The food is to die for. We had the beet salad, oven roasted squash, rigatoni and blackened walleye, all paired with a French 2022 Chateau Yvonne from the Saumur Champigny region, a light but full-bodied red. We added the pavlova (pistachio pudding) and an espresso for dessert. Very, very nice. Being semi-finalists for the 2024 and 2025 James Beard Award shows. Portions are on the small side, but not too small. The concept of sharing each item you order took me a moment to grasp but works out surprisingly well with the smaller portion sizes. If you are looking for a warm, cozy atmosphere it's the wrong place, very industrial and sleek, tables are a little bit on the small side, and the chairs brought up - weirdly - memories of my schooldays. But they do take care of you: Making the reservation for our anniversary got us complimentary champagne and a table for 2 in the corner which can count for some degree of intimacy. Thank you! At last, you are not rushed, rather they make you take your time: We were there for good 2 hours. We will gladly come back.

    Spectacular…. food and service (Allison) off the charts. Selden Standard is CONSISTENTLY one of the best restaurants in Detroit.

    Seldon standard never disappoints everything was outstanding. Our server was delightful a perfect evening we have eaten all over the world and it’s one of our top five places.
