Nestled within a historic stone mansion crafted in 1898, Shepards offers a serene ambiance for a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Immerse yourself in the captivating history of our Queen Anne mansion, where you can savor your meal in the cozy fireplace dining room or on the veranda which offers outstanding lake views.

Chef Scott Dewar, our talented culinary maestro, consistently delights diners with an array of daily specials, showcasing his culinary expertise and diverse menu offerings.

Please note the bar is open for lighter fare at 3pm daily. The restaurant serves dinner from Wednesday to Monday.

An hour to get there and an hour to get back to Schenectady, but it was worth it. Dignified fine dining. My filet Mignon was excellent. Companions' meals were very satisfying. Too bad we don't have much of this quality of peaceful dining in the capital district, but we now know where to go.

This was our second visit to Shepard’s at Erlowest. Unfortunately, it was not as positive as our first. Our main complaint is the fact that in spite of only 5 tables with couples, the service was slow. To be fair, there was only one waitress, but it just wasn’t busy. My husband ordered the beef short rib and I ordered the beef tenderloin bolognese. The taste of the food was fine, it was a matter of after waiting a bit of a long time, our plates came out and the food was barely warm…no excuse for that except that perhaps it was left sitting somewhere before it got to us? My dish basically had three modest sized tenderloins and a ton of bolognese. For $50.00 I expected a bit more than that. My husband’s short rib was of modest size as well for the same price. No, we didn’t complain but afterwards after thinking about it, I wish I had said something. Oh well, I wouldn’t say we would never go back, but it won’t be again anytime soon!

Shepard’s is our favorite restaurant in the region. We always have a delicious meal and wonderful service. Best fine dining in the area.

The food was incredible, the harvest bisque was sooo good. I had the pork chop, and my wife had the filet. The place was fantastic, and we can't wait to go back. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves good food and wine.

Birthday dinner on a quiet fall Monday night. Sous chef in the kitchen. We were alone in a quiet room with a well selected jazz playlist providing ambience. An excellent meal in a quiet elegant setting Highlights included the hen of the woods risotto, venison and duck special with sweet potato gnocchi and the spaghetti squash entrée as well as the gluten free brownie dessert. All were truly excellent. Also had an very good Manhattan. Jess provided outstanding service and recommendations. Not inexpensive but worth it. Highly recommended.

Erlowest has a unique ambiance that is often missing in a restaurant - the fireplaces were especially nice. The food was outstanding; however, our server never ran the evening specials by us nor did she split the salad for us as requested.

Very attentive service. Food and drinks were served in a nice timely manner, not rushed. Nice atmosphere and music was appropriate for dining.
