Thank you for choosing to dine with us at The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa, "Where the World Registers."

Ship Tavern opened in 1934 after the repeal of prohibition making it the oldest restaurant in our hotel. The décor includes a complete mast and crow’s nest, an old ship’s clock, Jamaican rum barrels, and a collection of sailing ship models former hotel owner, Boettcher, acquired on a visit to Cape Cod.

Listen to live music and enjoy a lively meal in a vintage pub atmosphere. Savor our famous prime rib, burgers, sandwiches, seafood and steaks. Enjoy our wide selection of beers, wines and unique cocktails. Satisfy your sweet tooth with our delectable desserts.

I have been coming to the Ships Tavern for business lunches for 20 years, and yesterday was the worst experience I have had in a very long time. My salad was wilted and tasted old. The clam chowder was warm at best. Then, when my business meeting was over, it took forever to get our check taken care of…

Terrible experience. We were there for the annual champagne tower (which isn’t cheap) and made lunch reservations months in advance as well. We were about 15 minutes late because the champagne pour took longer than we expected. When we arrived the hostess was extremely rude and made a comment about us being late and almost canceling our reservation (eventhough I had messaged them letting them know). Certainly you’d think they would know what we were there for and it wasn’t our fault. Then our server was even worse. One of our five lunches came out 10+ minutes after everyone else’s, which wasn’t that big of a deal, but the server basically threw it down in front of my mother-in-law without saying a word. Not so much as an apology or anything. Same when we paid the bill (we had to wait forever and flag someone down to bring our check) and then the checks were basically tossed back at us in the same manner. For something we were anticipating for a long time and for the expense of the day, we were extremely disapointed.

Went here 2x when in Denver this fall. For a tavern, the food was extra good. For lunch, the Caesar salad was among the best I've ever had, and the shrimp salad sandwich with tarragon was excellent. For dinner, for vegetarians they had a tofu steak with potatoes and vegetables that was also top notch. Drinks were good too. Service was attentive and friendly without being bothersome. And its location in the spectacular Brown Palace hotel can't be beat.

We took my 92-year-old Mum the night before she flew back to the UK after a visit here - and this place is ideal for a family gathering like this. Between the six of us, we ordered two burgers, one prime rib, and two fish and chips and the soup for Mum - all got great reviews. We also noted with delight that the fries that came with the fish and chips seemed to be cooked in different oil to the fries that were with the burger and appropriate as their respective accompaniment. Very attentive, friendly service. Great fun all round!

Caesar salad had too much dressing. Lobster Mac &cheese was just OK. The lobster was good but the Mac & cheese had no taste.

I don't know why this place has such good reviews. We ordered many things from the menu (goat cheese dip, lobster hush puppies, seafood pasta, salad, calamari and more) and all of it was dismal. No flavor or just bad. It was also extremely loud and difficult to have a conversation with someone sitting right next to you.

Our party of 4 came in at 6:30 without a reservation and was told at the host stand that they don’t take walkins until after 8:00, although there were plenty of tables. I booked a table for 7:00 and we were seated at 6:45. Seemed like a strange policy. Clam chowder was OK but not hot enough. Charcuterie board was bizarre — four thick slabs of cheese and maybe four slices of meat, fig jam and mustard in plastic ramekins, carrot sticks — just not what you’d expect for $30. Having said all that, the Churchill Bar in the same hotel where we had a nightcap and cigar was fantastic!

We were disappointed I. The quality of the food. Lobster bisque was barely warm and chunky, clam chowder barely warm and the dinner was dry. Sadly we were disappointed

The crab cake wasn’t very good but everything else was pretty good,oh and don’t get the seafood chowder it very boring and bland.
