The Shula's Story
Established in 1989, Shula's Steak House started with one goal in mind - to carry on the legacy of Coach Don Shula, one of the greatest coaches in NFL history. 30 years later, we've taken that goal and run with it. We're proud to offer the highest quality steaks, fresh-caught seafood, and tantalizing sides.

When Coach Don Shula opened the first Shula's Steak House in 1989, he took his winning formula to a whole new level. He wanted to provide the highest quality steaks in a warm, inviting setting. There's an ethos to excellence - it doesn't matter if you're coaching an undefeated football team, or grilling up a porterhouse - we make sure we live by it.

Waitstaff was very attentive and helpful. We chose the place because of the menu we saw on their website. Unfortunately, when we got there, we found it was very outdated. Many of the websites items were not on the in-house menu. Ribeye was tender and cooked properly but fairly tasteless.Fries kind of limp, sautéed spinach greasy.

We dined at Shula’s Steak House on 2/15, to celebrate our son’s birthday. The staff surprised our son with a framed “Happy Birthday” note and hand-written card waiting for him at our table. Rachel Ann was our server, greeting us with a warm smile and “Happy Birthday.” She was very attentive and personable, yet professional. Food-wise, I ordered the Chilean Sea bass with vegetables, which was delicious. The three other people in our party ordered filet mignons, with sides of creamed corn and steamed broccoli, all of which they said were very good. The portions are large, especially the desserts! Shula’s surprised our son with a complimentary birthday dessert. He chose a piece of chocolate cake, which the four of us together enjoyed but couldn’t finish. Our dining experience was a 10 out of 10.

Such a great time! Our anniversary dinner was delicious, elegant, and we received top tier service. On arrival, we found a 4x6 framed "Happy Anniversary" sign on our table, along with a handwritten card from the staff, wishing us a happy anniversary and thanking us for celebrating at Shula's. It was a very nice, personal touch and an extra level of service. Our server was attentive, friendly, and timely. He cheerfully helped us pair wines with our meals (and did an excellent job) and helped us navigate the dessert menu's wide variety of options. And as an anniversary gift, Shula's gave us dessert complimentary! Our food came out in a timely manner and was delicious. I have a garlic and onion intolerance and receiving flavorful meals when dining out is a challenge, but the Shula chef prepared a beautifully flavored seabass for me and even prepared a customized sauce --an accompaniment I usually have to forgo when dining out! I can't express how happy I am when I can eat a flavorful meal despite my garlic/onion intolerance. It's always the mark of a good chef when they creatively lean into all the other available spices and flavors, and I'm always so appreciative. My husband ordered the seared scallops and they were also prepared perfectly and generous in size. The atmosphere was quiet and elegant with high back dining chairs that lent an extra level of privacy and comfort. Even though it was a Thursday night, the restaurant was full, which I was glad to see. We had a lovely experience and highly recommend the Shula's Steak House in Gainesville. We'll be back!

We really enjoy eating at Shulas in Gainesville, Florida. The calamari is always light and flavorful. Our salads are decorated with multiple cucumbers, tomatoes, egg, carrots, bacon, and fresh spring greens. The filet is amazing, and alwsys is cooked perfectly medium rare. Shula’s mushrooms are “over the top”, and their loaded backed potato is baked to perfection. To top it off, their dessert, the crème brûlée, is so crunchy and smooth. What a wonderful birthday dinner! We also was given the task of tasting a new appetizer, a pork belly, that was deliciously crisp on the outside with a great smoky taste that evolved into a sweeter experience. The inside of the pork belly was cooked to perfection, and we hope to see it on the menu soon. Athena, our waiters,always checked snd talked to us. She did a fantastic job, and we hope to see her again.

It’s sadly quiet at 6-7pm during our visit. Steaks were excellent and were picky. Cajun shrimp app was very good as well. We ate quickly before a show so did not sample much else but the lobster Mac & cheese which is not nearly on par with the steak. Ambiance would be exceptional if it was busy. Great decor and very attentive friendly service.

We were literally the only people in the restaurant. The waitress was nowhere to be found. People in our party had to leave to order drinks at the bar. Food service was incredibly slow for us to be the ONLY people in the entire restaurant. Very disappointing.

Our server was excellent. He was very personable and knew the art of service to diners…we thoroughly enjoyed our New Years dining experience. The food was very above par..delicious..and the ambience and surroundings were beautiful. An A plus grade to Shula’s at Hilton UF Conference Center.

We had a 6:30 reservation for six people on Christmas Eve. The restaurant was not crowded. We ordered our meals at 7:00 and were served at 8:15. The scallops, crab cakes and filet mignon were good. Our sides of mac and cheese, wild mushrooms, and fries were also good. The two orders of salmon were overcooked and very dry. The sides of Brussel sprouts and asparagus were overcooked and not edible. With wine, our meals were between 60 and 100 dollars each. We left more food on the table than we ate. I will not return.
