Meticulously researched, planned and executed by the team led by Chef Sahil Sethi, and mentored by none other than Chef Sujan Sarkar, SIFR is a refreshingly different story of Middle Eastern cuisine seen through a whole new lens of creativity.

SIFR’s dishes are mostly cooked over a charcoal and wood-fired hearth, offering Mezze and larger plates, best shared family-style, as is common in Middle Eastern culture.

We sat on rooftop. Although it was a frigid evening, the heaters made it very comfortable. The best part was that it was so quiet. It is rare to have conversations across a large table in a restaurant. Our sever was excellent, and the management team was very attentive, even though we were told (and could see) that they were slammed. We ordered almost every appetizer and loved them all! The muhummara, eggplant, carrots and tuna were highlights. The mains were devoured, too. The beef kabob was a hit, but I thought the prawns were a standout! They were more like lobster meat. The mushrooms were good but not that special, and the branzino was so delicate and delicious. Even the date pudding was delicious, and I tend to think dessert must be chocolate.

Overall a good experience. The price point for the small plates for the portion size was disappointing but the food was really good. The grilled lamb was also good but again disappointed at the portion to price point. The veg mezze is a must for the table

Sat near door in winter, it was cold which was unpleasant. Although there was a 2nd door, it did not shield from the cold. Service were excellent. Hummus and falafels were delicious. Potato’s had too much sauce. Eggplant dish was good, but served cold, which was unexpected. Roasted chicken had a tiny layer of fat which

The staff was very friendly and helpful from the hostess to our server as well as the chef who came over to our table. The food was amazing at half the cost I’d normally see at other restaurants for less quality. Overall it was perfect.

Sifr has been our radar for quite a while and we were very pleased we were able to finally dine there. It's located in west River North with ample parking on Erie St adjacent to the restaurant which is a plus. Service: Outstanding from the moment we walked in with our elderly friends. The hostess was so polite and accommodating when I told her one of our friends was very hard of hearing. She suggested a table upstairs but we found out that it was actually that patio with outdoor heaters and it was too cold for us so we needed to go back to the main dining room which the hostess gladly reseated us. We can's say enough about our server, Jorge. He was courteous to a fault, attentive and so engaging. He was particularly careful in addressing the food allergies of our friends and even spoke to the chef to determine the dishes that would work for them which we thought was really going the extra mile. Also, when I asked if the music could be tuned down a bit to allow for better conversation he didn't hesitate to address it. The meal was paced perfectly with other servers helping to clear the table constantly. Food: Excellent. We tried the Fattosh Salad, Chicken Shawarma Hummus, Charred Carrots, Scallops, Branzino, Batata Harra and Persian Berry Pilaf and ice cream for dessert. All were delicious as evidenced by our empty plates. Ambiance: The room is modern, bright, with very high ceilings and open.floor plan and bar. Tables are spaced moderately but since the ceilings are so high the noise level can be challenging when the music is turned up. However, when we asked if the music could be turned down to a more comfortable level they seem to be happy to accommodate. A second floor patio is used for extra dining with space heaters but it can be cold if seated near the windows during the winter. However, it must be great during the summer months. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Sifr and will definitely be back with other friends.

The food was very good and inventive. There are many varieties of proteins from which to choose. Service was attentive. We were thee on a very cold night, and it was a bit drafty at our table when guests entered from the outside. The place was as noisy as are most others on a Saturday night.

Each bite at Sifr was incredible. We got the hummus, pita, carrots, falafel, maitake, and lamb kabob. The textures, flavors, and colors were all so impressive and we will definitely be back. Beautiful space, excellent service. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
