With over 20 years of experience in the kitchen, Nicholas McCann, now Executive Chef of Society Cafe, has always been passionate about food. Drawing inspiration from his family recipes, Nicholas quickly fell in love with the culinary world at a young age and began his career at The French Culinary Institute in NYC. Since then, he has worked with some of the city’s most acclaimed chefs and restaurants, including working alongside Chef Luis Bollo of Salinas before moving on to become an Executive Chef at TESSA, The Milling Room, and Corkbuzz.

At Society Cafe, Chef Nicholas flexes his creativity by bringing a fresh perspective to the restaurant’s ‘market-to-table’ concept. With a rotating seasonal menu reflective of the city’s local farmers and markets, guests can expect to experience Chef Nicholas’ unique culinary creations alongside its intimate & classic art deco inspired space.

Fine but nothing special. Pics of place looked better online. Tables too close to each other

Hi Stephanie, We apologize that we weren't what was expected from photos online. Our brunch can be quite a scene but we can promise that our weekday service is generally more spacious and on the quieter side, especially for Dinner. Also, this is our busiest season which means that the dining room is generally more full and we can understand that this could be frustrating especially given that some of our photos online are from our slower season. We wish that you would give us another chance but understand that there are a lot of restaurants in New York that you may prefer to try out. Thank you for your feedback, we know that you took time out of your schedule and we appreciate it.

Food was good, ambience very good. Very pretty decorations. Would recommend for drinks but maybe not a weekend dinner considering how many are in the area .

Hi Lauren, We are glad to hear that the ambiance was good, but saddened to notice that our food and service fell short of expectations. If you have a moment to share with us what about your experience could have been improved upon we would really appreciate the feedback. We work with local farms, take extra effort to source from smaller vendors, and we'd hate to think we aren't doing our best by these ingredients! I have visited this place many times over the years but unfortunately though the ambiance and the food is still very good, I was irritated by how the service staff member cleared my plate of food before I was finished all the bites on my plate. I felt like this needs to be improved a bit.

The dishes were very unique and unusual, but we don’t mind adventure! The pizza was great. The only complaint is: it’s just too dark! Ambience is nice, but this place is almost dangerous!

Had a good Thanksgiving dinner at Society Cafe. Beautiful, atmospheric space evocative of the 1920s. Food was very good. The experience was nice and would have been perfect except for a few mistakes, i.e., not bringing the side dishes we ordered until we were done, at which point we no longer wanted them. I’d still rate it highly and would go back.
