Song Bird by chef Neil Perry AM offers a superlative culinary experience that blends the delicate flavours of Cantonese cuisine with the warmth and fragrance of traditional Chinese cooking. Reflecting Perry’s profound appreciation for Chinese culinary traditions, Song Bird’s menu is designed for sharing and is a testament to Perry’s commitment to cooking with fresh, locally-sourced premium produce.

Situated in Sydney’s Double Bay and set over three levels, Song Bird exudes a sophisticated yet welcoming ambience. Housed in the heritage-listed 1960’s masterpiece ‘Gaden House’, designed by architect the late Neville Gruzman, Song Bird's interior immerses guests in contemporary elegance with a subtle nod to Chinese sensibilities.

Guests are asked to dine on our share-style Expressions of Song Bird Menu at $135 per person, allowing guests to celebrate with a glorious feast of Chef Neil Perry’s signature dishes. To enjoy the full Song Bird experience, diners have the option of enhancing their menu by adding chef’s Menu Supplements. For exclusive use of the group dining space, there is a minimum spend requirement of $3,500.00 plus a 10% service charge.

    The service was excellent as was the ambience. The food was disappointing and a far cry from Chinese food that I have in China and elsewhere in Sydney. The flavours were fine if you are not looking for those rich aramatic flavours of tried and true Chinese recipes. I have never before been given sugar to put on the skin of the Peking duck to "balance the flavours" This says to me they can't cook the duck properly in the first instance. Why do chefs try and reinvent the perfectly round wheel?

    We had such an amazing date night are still raving about the flavours and also the high standard of service. Can’t wait to come back.

    Beautiful Room! Most probably the nicest elegant Chinese/Asian Restaurant in Sydney. We had 3 Dumpling Dishes, 1 Appetiser and 3 Main Courses plus Noodles. The Peking Duck was a little disappointing. A bit burned and the pieces were way too thickly cut! The Coral Trout was very nice, so were the Vegetables and Noodles. We shared 3 Desserts and thought these were the best of the food we had. We were 5 People and all of us thought that for such a beautiful Place the food was 70% out of 100%. The Drinks all very nice and the Petit Chablis excellent! The Service was professional. A small thing if one wants to be picky, the Dining Room is on the first floor and the access to it is via a Staircase, so not ideal if someone is disabled.

    A stunning room that was full of energy on our most recent visit. We had a decent idea of what we wanted to order but we were guided through the menu neatly. We loved the duck along with the pancakes but the table would have eaten endless orders of the prawn toast. This all worked well with a German Riesling as a suggested by the sommelier. My mother also appreciated the cupcake to note her birthday, so she loves the place even more now. The bastion for elevated Chinese food in the east.

    We had the dumplings and Peking duck. These were excellent, but expensive when compared to high-end Chinese restaurants. The Mango and sago dessert however was outstanding, and not something you’d find elsewhere. At the end of the day we were there for the Double Bay ambience and the legendary Neil Perry service. Well worth going at least once, and perhaps again on special occasions.

    We ordered the banquet for 6 people and felt it was very rushed and not suitable for the 2 hour sitting allocated. Also the sharing mains did not arrive at the same time which took from the enjoyment of the meal experience
