Since Rafael Palomino—Sonora’s Executive Chef and Proprietor—opened the doors to this, his flagship Latin-fusion restaurant, he has received accolades from a broad customer base, including an “Excellent” from the New York Times. This creative, Colombian-born (Queens-raised) chef and author of five cookbooks, has since opened 8 more restaurants that span three states (New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania). Sonora, like Palomino’s other restaurants, boasts excellent service and mouth-watering dishes, paired with an extensive wine list and cocktail offerings. Tried the branzino and it tasted like the fish was old. Strong and unpleasant. It should be mild . Will affect my feelings about returning to Sonora. My husband had a steak dish which he enjoyed but it wasn’t prepared in the usual way.

The food was very good and the Dulce de Leche cheesecake was outstanding! The servers were friendly, helpful, and efficient. Will definitely be back.

Double date night at Sonora really hit the spot. My wife and I got together with longtime friends and each of us enjoyed the experience. The guacamole was freshly made to order. The drinks were firm and tasty. The entrees all were prepared with high regard to flavor and visual aesthetic. Great job Sonora

Always a wonderful dining experience at Sonora. The staff is great, the food consistently prepared deliciously and tasty creative drinks. A favorite for us.

Food (duck quesadilla and lomo saltado for me, beet salad and paella palomino for my partner) was excellent, perfectly cooked. Service was friendly and polite. Restaurant was much louder than usual, seemingly overbooked, which slowed service, increased time to be seated, and raised noise level to a near unbearable level.
