The Sottovento restaurant located in the Royal Sonesta Hotel, Isla Verde, Puerto Rico has spectacular facilities and a first class atmosphere. The service impressed me with its high professionalism and great empathy. The food was of high quality with a delicious Italian-style flavor. I enjoyed a good Chardonnay wine from their extensive cellar. I highly recommend this restaurant. The owners stopped by my table to get my opinion. Everything was excellent. I will be back soon with my family.

Very different menu than expected, and not in a good way. We were asked if we wanted still or carbonated water and picked still; not realizing we’d be getting charged nearly $9.00 for the bottle. The bar couldn’t even make a french cocktail due to no chambord. The bartender did offer to make me something similar but it was un drinkable so I had to return it. My meal, which was the papardelle had pieces of bone in it, not only is that a choking hazard, but I could have broken a tooth. Just an overall underwhelming experience. It was very disappointing as it was our last night in PR, as well as my birthday. They did deduct the charge of my cocktail and meal which was very gracious of them. The staff is highly accommodating, it just was not a good fit for my husband and I. Living in the metropolitan area, I guess we’re used to really good Italian food. This just didn’t do it for us, but we wish them well.

Authentic Italian ingredients with no UPF s well managed .. a delight to find a calm environment where you can hear your partner and savour simple perfectly prepared food.

Booked the reservation and open table didn't say that it was a set menu for NYE. That was unexpected but it was too late to change plans. It was $169 per person and value felt no more than $100 pp. Service took 2.5 hours. The food came out cold. The veal was overcooked. The ravioli was swimming in a pool of olive oil. Bread was meh. Bread pudding tasted like raw brownie batter. The best of the night was the Cesar salad and Panna cotta. Everything else was meh. However since it was only their 2nd day open and on a holiday when the island had no power, willing to try it again next time.

Just starting up. Service speed was glacial and $50 pp over priced. Give it a couple months and see.
