Soul Cafe is our Friday night go to place and almost every Friday I enjoy one of their fresh fish specials. Tonight it was Sea Bass with mashed potatoes in a pepper, onion, olive sauce but last week it was prepared differently. Both of them were fantastic and the price was very reasonable. My wife enjoyed coconut shrimp and one of Soul’s signature salad. Also delicious. One of several home made fruit mini pies (rhubarb) came home with us as we were stuffed from our entrees. Every week we are eager to see the specials that are unique and prepared to perfection. Of course we cannot forget our server, Luis, who is super attentive and gracious.

Wonderful food!! Soul Cafe is one of our favorites so we took our friends who were visiting from FL and they loved it too!

We sat on the front patio and it was lovely and quiet, which is great for my spouse with hearing aids. The restaurant is lovely, but can be a bit noisy when busy. The craft cocktail menu has many interesting selections, and they have a reasonable wine list, with which our serving staff seemed quite knowledgeable. Our group has one vegetarian, one seafood lover, and four who like almost anything, so we tried a pretty diverse range of items on the menu. From the Snack menu we shared the Brussel Sprouts, the Cauliflower bites, and the Steamed Clams, all of which were fresh and delicious. For entrees we had a Mexiloaf (spicy-sauced meatloaf), Walleye, Surf and Turf (Braised short rib ravioli in a creamy sauce, with whole shrimp), the Pork Chop with Spicy Bacon Jam, the Blackened Mahi, and a Strawberry and Watermelon Salad. The portions are quite generous for all the dishes here, and most are quite shareable for two people, should that be a preference. They were very accommodating for requests to make small modifications (sauce on the side, etc.). The staff was friendly, helpful, and provided us with a lovely dining experience.

Food was very good but the service was very poor. After an hour and a half we did not have our dinner. We spoke to the manager who apologized and tried to make things right. We finally got our food which we had no complaints with. The manager brought over pies for dessert and did not charge us for the pies which were very good. When it came time to pay it took our server three times ( actually the manager took over after the second try) to give each couple the correct bill. Manager gave us all some gift cards as well to make up for all the inconvenience. Of the four couples only one is willing to go back and give this restaurant another chance.

Our first time trying lunch here with girlfriends, much easier to book than dinner, and less crowded so less noisy, my one complaint about Soul cafe is the crazy noisy acoustics when full. Please put some acoustic tiles on the ceiling or put down some area rugs, we don't like shouting to be heard and damages your staff's hearing eventually too. Nice responsive man server, we sat in the back, but when expecting 99 degree day, I had to comment on why the large doors were open to the ever hotter air at 11:30. We got the air turned on so that was a welcome relief. Our salads were great, good portion, and one friend's eggs benedict so filling she took one home! All good overall.
