This Sports Bar used to be one of our favourite places to watch football. We haven’t been since pre Covid as we haven’t been working in London again until very recently. Unfortunately we were really disappointed… this is not the bar it used to be. The area previously held for seated eating with table service was over occupied with people standing, drinking and there was no friendly table service like there used to be to be and no ability to run a tab for the night at your table (you repeatedly order from your phone not from a member of staff). It felt chaotic!
In addition, your reservation used to be aligned to the TV screen area showing the game you specified in your booking. The games being shown used to be grouped but now they are spread around sporadically and we did not have a clear view of the game we asked for (also hindered by the amount of standing in the seated eating area). And because of the mixed nature no commentary was being played to a level that could actually be heard. This is a real set back and negatively impacted the atmosphere and overall experience.
Finally, the menu which was previously varied with classic bar food perfect for watching sport has been replaced with a really unpleasant limited menu without so much a classic plate of nachos with guac, salsa etc. The only ‘small’ plate option is chicken wings. No more prawns or calamari, halloumi, or any other form of chicken. Just really weird!
The redeeming feature is the staff… and we were really pleased to see one particular member of staff still there who was always so welcoming and attentive and good spirited. It was just a shame the nature of table service has completely changed in the eating area which has obviously changed his role.
This always used to be a really good night out and a perfect place to watch sport and eat. It was definitely a place we returned to frequently. However, I’m disappointed to say that based on the new set up, I don’t think we will be going back.
