Tucked away in the heart of former spa town Matlock, Stones is a cosy restaurant serving modern British cuisine. The restaurant’s interior is smart and intimate while the kitchen marries British produce with recipes inspired by international cuisine. Don’t be fooled by the apparent simplicity of the seasonal lunch and dinner menus, every dish demonstrates the culinary imagination, technique and flair of the vibrant kitchen team, led by head chef Kevin Stone. The additional tasting menu offers eight courses partnered with a carefully selected optional flight of wine. Catering for all dietary requirements, Stones offer distinct vegetarian and GF menu. Diners can enjoy views overlooking the coursing waters of the River Derwent.                           Second visit to stones and it was just as good as the first. Friendly knowledgeable staff. The coconut flavoured broth with the fish main was so good, would have had a bowl on its own. Will definitely return. Highly recommend this little gem in Matlock.

                          We treat ourselves to an evening meal here two or three times a year. Doesn't seem to matter what you choose from the menu it's always delicious.

                          This jem of a restaurant is down a steep flight of stone steps, but totally worth the effort. The staff are extremely helpful and caring. Nothing is too much trouble. The format of the meal is perfect with detailed menus, to tempt ones pallet The restsurant caters for all levels of taste. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to eat special food in superb surrounding, which overlook the river.
