                                                                                  We have gone to Stonewood Grill in Sarasota for years. When the restaurant opened, it was very elegant, excellent servers and great food. Since Covid, it has struggled to stay in the sophisticated dining lane. We went for an early dinner last night. The restaurant was not crowded. It was very quiet as usual, which was nice, but the restaurant just seemed worn out and dirty in some ways. As we approached, we noticed Astroturf on the patio. There were napkins on the ground crumbs and other debris caught in the Astroturf. It just looked uncut and dirty. No one was dining outside. We sat in a booth in the restaurant. The booth vinyl seating was the original and was cracking. It seems to me the restaurant needs an update at a refresh to keep its place in the sophisticated dining level of Sarasota. We each had a Stonewood salad with grilled salmon and pretzel bread. Now, no bread is included. You have to pay for it. The salad with the salmon tasted good, but portion was smaller. Our server was OK, but never checked to see if we needed refills on our drinks, etc. It just missed the mark a bit and was a little disappointing. I think it’s all fixable. The whole restaurant probably needs a decorative refresh and for the prices they are asking to go back to the portions and caliber the food was originally. That may have to do with management. Good management of a restaurant is very important.

                                                                                  Another excellent Sunday dinner at Stonewood! Marina's service was outstanding- personable, thoughtful and efficient. Manager Tamara stopped by to see us, and another one of our favorite servers, Payton, stopped by to chat. We really enjoy interacting with all of the great folks who work there! My wife and our good friend split the prime rib sandwich, and it was great. I had the tenderloin tips chef's special, and it was delicious! Thanks, Stonewood!
