Located in the bustling River North dining scene, Sunda offers a vibrant Southeast Asian dining experience, blending the flavors of Japan, China, the Philippines, Thailand, and beyond. We elevate culturally significant dishes using high-quality ingredients and modern techniques. Our beverage program includes signature handcrafted cocktails, a robust sake and wine selection, and Asian whiskies and beers. Join us for weekend brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 2pm, or stop by during happy hour Monday to Friday from 4-6pm featuring $6 bar bites, handrolls, and beer, $9 cocktails and wine, and $10 sake. Our venue hosts private events for occasions from corporate outings to rehearsal dinners, and we also offer catering services.

We’ve been frequenting Sunda since 2015. It offered a quieter ambiance for a Saturday brunch, a refreshing change from the usual noisy atmosphere of their dinner service. While the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, once my personal fav, have lost their appeal, my wife still enjoys them. It appears that the brunch menu has undergone significant changes. We tried the Ticino Grilled Cheese for the first time, which was surprisingly delicious. The Pork Belly + KFC Steamed Buns were also a delightful addition to our menu. Sunda Sundae lacked the sweetness I expect from a dessert.

Sat us in bar area. Our server was working bar and serving us. He was very busy and therefore, service was not great. He was pleasant, but slow service. We had a big black hair served on one of our dishes. Food was average for high cost and extremely loud in there. Certainly, not going back any time soon.

The food, service, curb appeal, lighting, and value were all outstanding. My only comment is that it is VERY loud inside. I found myself nearly screaming at my colleague to carry on a conversation. The energy was lively, and isn't a negative thing for some people, but thought I would point this out for those that may want a more intimate or quiet location.

The meal was very good but not worth the $600 bill for 6 people. We had no dessert and five cocktails. Not one bottle of wine. The tuna truffle pizza and tuna yuzu were great, but everything else was just solidly good. The adobo fried rice was tasty but nothing special. The sea bass was very good, but the pork belly was “underwhelming” acc to the person who ordered it. Our server was excellent and the ambiance and decor was great, but it was loud for a party of six to talk as a table or across the table. I wonder if the prices are so high to pay for the decor. I would recommend Miru over Sunda in a heart beat.

Pretty room and good service but most of the food was kind of meh. The so-called house specialty sticky rice spicy tuna was bland and the combination of cold tuna on top of a warm blob of sticky rice was disconcerting. The other sushi rolls were just okay and that's not great considering they are 50% more expensive than the same roll offered at less fancy sushi joints. The Brussell Sprouts salad was as promised, crunchy, well dressed and flavorful and the only truly generous portion received. The Chop Chae sweet potato noodles were also nothing to write home about.All-in-all, for the cost, I'm not sorry we went but we wouldn't likely return.
