Sycamore Vino Cucina is a restaurant and bar housed within Middle Eight on Great Queen Street, Covent Garden. Inspiration for our menu is drawn from our Executive Chef's desire to deliver a truly authentic Italian experience and his love for the different regions in Italy.

Whether you choose the Tuna Carpaccio or the Aubergine Parmigiana, the two things you can be sure of are delightful food and drink, and a buzzing and sociable atmosphere in the heart of London.

The staff we encountered were friendly and welcoming, particularly a male waiter whose name I didn’t catch, but the service was disjointed. Despite fewer than 10 tables being occupied during our 2+ hour visit, there were numerous mistakes. After ordering our meals, two cocktails, and a bottle of wine, we received two of the same starter instead of the dishes we’d actually ordered. One plate was taken away, but the correct two dishes never arrived. We finished what we had, cancelled the wine as that also hadn't arrived, and ordered two more cocktails. Twenty minutes later, we were informed the cocktails would be at least another 30 minutes as the bartender called in sick, so we cancelled them too, as we wanted to leave asap. 45 minutes after finishing our starters, the mains arrived, along with the cancelled cocktails, as an apology from our waiter. The food was decent but overly salty, and the Milanese was dry. We were asked if we wanted sauces - they never came. The bill arrived quickly but without the discount and with the items we hadn’t received. Over the next 20 minutes, we tried flagging down 3 staff members to pay, eventually chasing someone as he stopped at a till, as the bar was unmanned. Though the team’s friendliness was appreciated, the lack of organisation overshadowed it, and we wouldn’t return.

Food was all good although mains are pretty small for the price so you need sides and at least 2 courses. On the downside, service was extremely slow and no up to date menu. Also no desert menu available.

The restaurant looks nice from the pictures but has mixed reviews online, so I went with an open mind. The 30% deal is good value but the service in this restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. I got asked three times whether I was on the 30% deal and then they still left it off the final check. I had to ask the waitress for service after waiting for a while and even when I was sitting there with an empty drink, no one came to ask if I wanted more. I had to wave to get attention to get a dessert menu, this was then dropped off at my table and the waitress never came back to follow up If I wanted dessert. I waited 15 minutes and then decided to ask the nearest server to get my bill, which was missing the discount. I asked for this to be rectified and then they brought me a larger bill for someone else’s table. I think the manager here really needs to motivate his staff to be better servers, it felt like they had better things to do than serve customers.

We had a brilliant time here. We needed a wheelchair accessible restaurant where they could accommodate a few additional needs and they were outstanding. I emailed ahead and had a prompt and helpful reply. We arrived and were expecting us and were super helpful throughout. Food excellent quality and brilliant value for money. Highly recommend this for anyone - but especially on the accessibility rating! Thank you so much!

TERRIBLE service. It took about an hour and a half to get our mains after ordering, and multiple times asking for our food and mentioning we needed to leave at a certain time for the theatre. The servers all seemed very confused and not on top of things. The food was fine and the ambience is quite nice, but the service was atrocious.

One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The service was over zealous and the food was actually inedible. I would have complained but my partner asked me not too. To top it all the advertised discount is not true. AVOID !

What a find. Fabulous restaurant - food and service was excellent and the special offer of 30% off the total bill made the visit a great success. We will definitely return at some point.
